Palotel Design Gouvia

Wonderful stay here at the Palotel, the loveliest, friendliest staff, nothing was too much trouble. Great location for the beach and all the lovely tavernas. We had a nice quiet room on the top floor, you could see the sea from the balcony. You can sit out the front in the evening and enjoy and ice cream or a cocktail. We had the most delicious baklava and orange pie one night. The pool is quiet and relaxing. The hotel arranged a beautiful birthday cake and some wine for my husbands birthday, which was a lovely surprise. The perfect stay, we had a wonderful holiday, thank you.

As a light sleeper to noise , i emailed ahead asking for a high floor room preferably not one overlooking the Main Street- unfortunately we were placed ground floor room next to the water heater- this makes a very very loud noise ever 5 minutes all night and is unbearable. The bed was hard. The shower cubicle is tiny with lime scaled shower n rail but worse was the shower curtain that then sticks to you if you turn. Apart from that, the room was small but nice with great air con (that you are not allowed on if not in room) fridge and really appreciated the kettle facilities to make a brew. The breakfast was ok with choices - but same exactly daily. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and through the stay but do constantly stand over you whilst your choosing breakfast from the small buffet which makes you feel a little uncomfortable. The pool was a good size no one puts towels on loungers so always plenty however the top corner that gets most sun also is next to the septic tank which does omit some foul odours at times. The location in gouvia is perfect- on the main strip but this is a low key Greek strip and also 2mins to beach. Buses 5mins up side of hotel to Corfu, dassia and Ipsos with regular service and cheap. If we had a better positioned room we would probably have had a different sleep experience but the room next to water heater is unbearable noise wise so we’re disappointed overall with our stay sadly.

We stayed here for a week in July. For me, there are way more CONS than PROS: - They accommodated us on the ground floor, next to the boiler room – I asked to change the room, but they kept postponing it until the end of our stay, so it never happened; the noise from the water heating system didn’t let me sleep at all, but they didn't care. - The room is small, and the bathroom is claustrophobic. - The breakfast is poor, and the coffee is terrible. - When we had early morning excursions and asked for a packed breakfast, they told us (!). On the boat, everyone else had snack bags from their hotel – except for us. The PROS are just a few: good location (if you want to stay in Gouvia), close to the beach, the supermarket and the bus station. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anybody.

Nice and clean hotel, staff are very friendly, rooms are small especially the bathroom, also shower curtain need to be sorted out as the water goes all over the floor when you shower so not really big enough for 3 people, clean towels every other day, sheets changed ever 3 days, but the room is cleaned daily apart from Sundays, you get a free safe , air con, kettle iron and ironing board in the room, and you can leave the key fob in the slot so that the air con works while your out , that’s if you remove the key from its ring as we did, however the maid leaves the balcony door on a tilt so that the air con goes off which isn’t ideal especially when it’s hot outside also you can hire beach towels which are 5 euros each , but if you need clean ones you have to pay 5 euros every time you change them , I thought this was a bit steep maybe 1 euro per change would be better, we were bed and breakfast which was ok however sometimes the beans and eggs could have done with being a bit hotter, the yogurt and cereals and toast was fine as you help yourself, the coffee machine could also have done with being a bit hotter but apart from that no problem, the hotel is not far from either the beach or the centre of gouvia, the beds are comfortable with memory foam mattress so that’s ok, we had a late flight but as you have to check out by 11am this is not ideal so I asked to keep my room on for a bit longer and pay extra to do this , but I was told that someone would be in my room before about noon so it wasn’t, possible however they said I could have another room but it would cost me 140 euros, which seems a bit expensive to me, so I declined, I would have paid 40, for the extra couple of hours but not 140 , there are showers and toilets downstairs to use but they stink so I wasn’t using them, and when I looked at the room that we were in at 5pm it was still empty, so I don’t get why we couldn’t keep it on, we had a nice holiday there however won’t be visiting corfu again.

Loved this immaculate stylish B&B Hotel, great size bedrooms, clean throughout. Breakfast was good, a little more choice than expected . Staff friendly and they're make your stay pleasant . The only small gripe we had was the pool area. There were no bins for rubbish, and the poolside wasn't tidied from one day to the next, though the pool was cleaned. Saying that the pool was shared with the hotel next door,so it could have been their responsibility.

Sadly pool still without water, no barman so bar closed and restaurant not open! Disappointed as would have improved holiday. Our room was at front of hotel, above reception which meant we heard every conversation, phone call etc. throughout the night. Despite this, good location, friendly staff and housekeeping earned a 3* review.
