Our family has been fortunate to stay at some of the world’s finest hotels, and we were hoping to time a Greece trip to celebrate several family milestones with the opening of the Four Seasons in Mykonos. However, when that property’s opening was delayed, our travel industry friend/executive recommended Kitikies, and we are so glad he did. Our recent stay there was simply magical. Every aspect….from the accommodations (35 rooms each with a private pool and an incredible sea view) to the service to the food…was unparalleled. We arrived there after a brief stay at the Four Seasons in Athens, so we had plenty of opportunities for side-by-side comparisons. The employees don’t wear name tags…..probably because they want to work seamlessly together to provide the best travel experience possible. But I want to single out two of the two young female concierges, the brunette with glasses and the one with longer blonde hair, for the amazing jobs they did. They were so warm and welcoming. No request was too big or too small, and they handled each and every one flawlessly. Then, when we had to cancel a yacht excursion at last minute because we were concerned about the rough seas, they were unfazed. Normally that would have triggered cancellation fees, etc. The chef also deserves special mention because of the wonderful private dinner he prepared for my birthday, July 4th. We’d experienced our first Michelin Star dinner at the Four Seasons Athens, but this is the one I will remember as my favorite meal ever. We want to give the biggest shoutout to the General Manager, Mr. Stavros Karafotias. In most luxury hotels you never see the GM or ever really know the GM’s identity, but Mr. Karafotias seems to always be present…not in an overbearing way, but, to borrow an analogy from my mentor, “like a maestro conducting a beautiful symphony.” Our daughter described our Greece vacation as “the trip of a lifetime,” and, in large part, we have Katikies to thank for that. We will definitely select Katikies when we return to Greece or any other island where Katikies has a property.
