Verdelago Resort

Without exception the best family resort we have ever stayed in. A calm and helpful staff team, stunning natural beauty and top quality facilities. I cannot praise it enough. Go!

The resort is only a couple of years old so relatively new. The grounds are well kept. Our checkin was fine, as expected from a 5-star resort, with refreshment provided and the manager going through all the amenities and activities during our stay. The bell person brought our luggage to our 3-bedroom unit next to the nature preserve where we will be for the next few days to start our Portugal vacation. But the services at the resort dropped off after the checkin. There was no evening turn down service as indicated at checkin and somewhat the norm for a 5-star resort. We ran out of water and was only provided a minimum amount of coffee and laundry detergent. So we ordered for them and never came. We had to call like four times before it was brought to us 30 minutes later. The next day we went to the breakfast buffet which was fine. Nothing special with the food selection and the restaurant staff provided what was asked but not close to being attentive as other 5-stars we’ve been to. After breakfast we left the resort for the day on an excursion. When we came back to our townhouse in the evening, only the beds were made. All of our used towels were still there with no replacements, the living room and kitchen had not been cleaned (see pictures). After texting to the staff that night, a manager did come by and spoke to us the next morning. He did apologize and assured us the housing staff will be there to clean our unit. But that was the extent of it. The last morning we were at breakfast. As usual our party of two families with kids would stagger to breakfast in waves as whoever was ready would go to breakfast. So the restaurant staff had to take few separate drink orders. Then one of the lead came by and ask if everything was okay because his server had to take multiple drink orders. This incident really just highlight the lack of service quality we expect from a claimed “5-star resort”. Before the trip, we were deciding back and forth if we should stay with a local luxury resort like Verdelago or go with one for the international 5-star resorts we’re accustomed to. Given the service experienced, we should have stayed at the nearby W resort.

Lovely couple of nights stay at this resort. Yes there is some building work going on in the distance but it did not effect our stay. It was peaceful and tranquil. The environment is great for walking, running or cycling. Really good for children. I was very impressed with the sport’s facilities. I had never played paddle board before and really enjoyed it. Our town house was very comfortable had everything we needed for our stay. The was a good choice of food at breakfast and we had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The staff were vey friendly and helpful.

We stayed here in June and it was so peaceful and relaxing! The blackout blinds + silence at night were stellar. The grounds are stunning. Even though they are still building new properties and a beach club, you rarely see or hear much construction. The staff are very friendly and accommodating (Sergio was the best!), the rooms are spacious and comfortable with loads of thoughtful closet space I wish I had at home, and the breakfast is out of this world! The resort is a short walk to the beach, and a short drive to lots of restaurants. However, the food at Verde Lago was excellent. I appreciate the underground parking and convenient lift straight up to your room.

We stayed for 5 days at the start of June and we were very kindly put in one of the town houses. The town house was stunning and had everything we needed to cook and relax, I especially liked being able to control the temperature in different rooms. The beds were very comfy! The whole resort is tastefully decorated, the pool area was clean, relaxing and had lots of sunbeds, and the boardwalks down the beach were lovely for a stroll. Breakfast was great with lots of options, especially for healthier choices and vegetarian food. A special mention is needed for the service, it was honestly the best service we have received in a hotel. All of the staff were super friendly and attentive, and it was my husbands birthday when we were out there and the staff made him feel special and even brought a little treat to our room in the evening. Some of the resort is still under construction but we didn't notice any disruption from it at all, and the completed parts of the resort have plenty of facilities for a holiday. We look forward to coming back when the resort is completed to see how it's changed! We had an absolutely fabulous holiday and can't thank all of the staff enough.

We had a fabulous time! Verdelago was just beautiful; the resort is lovely and the beach is stunning. The food and service were both excellent. We celebrated our anniversary, and they sent a bottle of wine & a cake to our villa. I can't say enough good things about this resort, we'll definitely be going back.
