Sagitario Menorca Mar Adults Only

This was our second visit to Menorca Mar within 3 years & it was just as perfect as the last. Both times we requested an end apartment behind the pool with afternoon/evening sunshine as we do like to sit out on the lovely terrace & you get a nice grassed area too. The apartments are quite basic if you want to self cater but they suited us as we do like to eat out in an evening & found them adequate for two people if you just want to prepare a bit of breakfast or light lunch. They were cleaned daily & the walk in shower was perfect. Wardrobe space is a bit limited with only a slimline bedside draw, so you might need to take a few spare hangers as there were only 5 in total. The whole complex is so peaceful & although they have evening entertainment for an hour at 9pm majority of people have returned to their apartments to sit outside to have a quiet drink by 11. The on-site pool area was large & again very peaceful. People either reading, sunbathing or swimming, which makes it a perfect adult only complex. All the staff are extremely friendly & hard working & the on-site restaurant serve beautiful food. It maybe a little more expensive than some of the restaurants in Cala n bosch harbour but very convenient & you also had the choice of the 2 Rocks or Classic restaurant within a 5 min walk away. We enjoyed the 20 min stroll into the harbour in the evening but during the daytime it could become extremely hot so prob best to go earlier morning. There is a bus stop a few minutes walk away if you don’t want to walk & they run about every half hour. We spent a morning in Cuitadella with a lovely harbour & quaint shops. Definitely worth a visit. All in all we couldn’t fault Menorca Mar & will definitely return in the future.

When we stopped here in September I gave the resort five stars, this time, despite the lovely staff, I have dropped the review because of a few negatives that hadn’t appeared last time. The other reviews pick up the qualities of this accommodation, which I would agree with, but I will comment on a few negatives. - The cleaning of the swimming pool was not satisfactory. A scum mark at water level around the pool was apparent, and whilst cleaning took place this was not always removed so more diligence is required. I’ve not seen this elsewhere so perhaps there are issues with the pool filters. - Our room (49) had a broken fridge in that the door seal was hanging off, whilst with a bit of jiggling the door could be shut satisfactory, it was reported and no action taken. - The young lifeguard spends his time in a location where he can’t see most of pool, but I am sure he gets a good reception on his phone, which he was on all day. - There were a number of scuffs on furniture, and marks on curtains. All making it a little poor. - There is a lack of sufficient sun umbrellas for the pool. There is plenty of space but the dreaded towels are now going down early to ensure that the lounges with umbrellas are secured. Some of the existing umbrellas are also broken. I don’t want to overemphasis these points as the food, location quietness, and staff are all excellent, but with a touch of TLC this place could be excellent.

We stayed here for nine days and were happy with the accommodation and found the restaurant very good. We had stayed the year before at The Grand Saggitario Hotel in Cala Blanca but did not enjoy the buffet food so thought self catering would be a good idea. The Grand Saggitario was beautiful. Very new and clean and the pool was immaculate. We were disappointed with the pool at Menorca Mar as in some spots around it there was a bad smell and there were green mound marks around the pool and in the filters. When we mentioned this to reception they asked for the pool water to be tested and the technician arrived to do this and he must also have cleaned the filters and the edge of the pool to clear the mould as it was cleared. The following day however, there was a mould line at the other end of the pool. It was very disappointing as we do like a swim and the mould was off putting. It was such a shame as everything else was fine and the staff were lovely. We would like to return but I think I would prefer to know that the pool was getting regular cleaning first.
