Hotel Spa le Calendal

I had planned a 2 night stay at le Calendal, but a bout of stomach flu my first morning led me to revamp my trip, and I ended up spending 6 nights total at this lovely hotel. the staff were especially kind to me during those first couple days when I was SO sick! and as I kept adding another day, then another 2 days, to my stay, they just smiled, and gave me good advice on things to see both in town and in the general area. I was extremely reluctant to leave, and would have happily stayed another couple of days. the spa is very pleasant, the breakfast is really well-done and the courtyard that centers the hotel is idyllic. there is a snack bar/takeaway counter and also table service if you want to sit out front and enjoy the sun and people watch. and historic Roman Arles is right on the doorstep!

The Hotel Spa Le Calendal is a fabulous hotel very close to the centre and adjacent to the 2000 year old Amphitheatre (Arenas). It has the feeling of a being family run hotel in the meaningful sense. All of the staff in reception, in the restaurant and room cleaning are incredibly helpful. As the area is for the most part pedestrian - the terrace in front of the hotel is often buzzing with visitors - the service is fast and there are plenty of hotel staff. The hotel was quiet at night. I was there for Easter weekend which is a busy time in Arles - There are so many museums which are all open. There are pop up art galeries everywhere. As the holiday marks the beginning of the bull-fighting season - the town swells up with a traditional family community and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Music can be heard everywhere, in medieval courtyards, designated squares and on narrow streets where sizeable brass bangs settle for a few hours playing every genre of music and with their followers in tow. merci beaucoup!

Very friendly staff went over and above! I am a travel planner and will definitely recommend this hotel to clients. Although there is no elevator, the staff assists with luggage. There are a few rooms on the lower level which I requested prior. The restaurant is very good as well as the staff. Enjoyed sitting out on the front patio with a glsss of wine and people watching. Great boutique hotel!

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of Sept and can highly recommend this hotel. The location is excellent, within walking distance of everything this charming town has to offer, and the staff was exceptional. The rooms are not large but are well kept and the breakfast buffet was great. Five stars from us.

This is the best spot in Arles. The staff were kind and friendly and the grounds relaxing (especially the garden). I would highly recommend the Spa! It is great bath like the Romans while overlooking the arena. Great value given all the awesome amenities.

The hotel is in the middle of everything you need to see in the town. Beautiful location and amazing hotel. My wife and I stayed and explored the town walking to all sites from the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic, fresh fruit and breads and hot eggs and sausage. Room and bathroom were great

Our favorite hotel stay on this trip to France! Mostly because of the friendly staff. Next to the Roman Arles Arena. Would stay again when in Arles!

We had an amazing stay. Through a miscommunication on my part, they thought I had cancelled my reservation. After an exhausting 10 hour day of travel to arrive and find we did not have a reservation caused quite the panic for us. But due to the amazing staff, they took incredible care of us, and put us in a lovely apartment they use for such emergencies. The entire stay was truly wonderful. Location, breakfast, restaurant, and especially the staff couldn’t have been better. Special thanks to the ladies working the front desk during the day and evening. I only remember Cecilia’s name, but both were amazing and found us hard to get restaurant reservations and taxis. We experienced first hand why Rick Steves stays here!

I went in for three hours to the Spa which was lovely. Quiet and quaint, very well maintained. A nice steam room, warm Roman style bath. I also got a massage which was quite relaxing and nice. Exactly what I needed for a bit while in Arles. Highly recommend!
