Malvarina

This was my 2nd time at Malvarina with the first being 30 years ago as part of a cooking program. I was fortunate enough to be able to cook with the matriarch, Maria, at the time who has sadly passed a few years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of farm living in Assisi then and it was even better this time around. We booked a cottage on the farm which was very charming and comes with a kitchen, eating area and queen sized bed. There was another single bed that we used as a sitting area. The setting was not to be believed being situated among the many olive trees on the farm and with fantastic views of the Subasio valley. It's a wonderful change from the big hotels of Rome, Florence and Venice. The best part of the experience wasn't the farm, quaint cottage, olive trees, the views or the cats and dogs that become your pets, it was the food. Patrizia, Maria's daughter-in-law, has taken over the kitchen. Her food is the best I've had from all of my travels throughout Italy. I've said that before about Malvarian when Maria was cooking but Patrizia has not only honored Maria by her amazing menus that are flawlessly executed, she has taken the Malvarian kitchen to new heights and has added wonderful, new touches to Nonna's recipes. I've eaten in Piedmont, Venice, Milan, Rome, Bologna, Parma, Abruzzi, Naples, Amalfi Coast, Puglia and SIcily and yes, Malvarina is the best. For a great experience from staying in a cottage on a farm, to becoming part of the family to the food and surrounding areas throughout Umbria, go to Malvarina and use their agriturismo as your base just a few km from Assisi. You won't be disappointed and you won't break the bank either. I can't ay enough about my stay and the value of what I received vs the cost. Once you stay at Malvarian, it will become a most treasured memory you will have forever, I can absolutely vouch for all of the other 5 star reviews. Many thanks to Claudio, Patrizia, Giacomo, Filippo and the Malvarina team for their warmth and hospitality. The refresher course on hand rolled pasta will be yet another treasured memory and permanent part of my cooking repertoire. THank you all for your hard work in keeping Malvarina alive and well.

I can’t praise Malvarina enough. Stayed a couple of nights with a friend and we absolutely loved it. Great location on a hill outside of Assisi with terrific views over the valley and beautiful sunsets. The family and staff who run the farm are helpful and kind. The room was very comfy and clean. And the food was simply incredible! A set menu for dinner which changes each day, and based on the farm’s produce and local specialities. Great value! A relaxing and truly memorable stay!

Assolutamente consigliato, oltre le nostre aspettative!! E’ un posto splendido, immerso in un boschetto da cui partono vari sentieri (tra cui uno per Assisi), con panorami mozzafiato, agriturismo rustico, dove lavorano persone squisite (sempre gentilissimi, con il sorriso, pronti a dare consigli su visite e sentieri, TUTTI!). Situato in un punto strategico per visitare l’intera Umbria e le zone più vicine di Toscana e Marche (1° motivo per cui l’abbiamo scelto). Confermo che anche nelle giornate più calde (abbiamo soggiornato luglio -agosto ‘25), essendo su una collinetta, si sta benissimo, si respira l’aria pulita del bosco; c'è il condizionatore in camera ma non l’abbiamo mai acceso. Facilissimo da raggiungere, c’è fa fare qualche metro di strada non sterrata ma andando piano è assolutamente accessibile! Parcheggio interno. Attenti all'ambiente (2° motivo) vedi sezione “regole” sul sito. Menzione speciale alla CUCINA (3° motivo, hanno il riconoscimento Osterie d’Italia Slow Food): SUPERLATIVA!! Colazione quasi tutti i giorni, presente ricotta ultra fresca e pazzesca; ogni giorno, dolci fatti in casa, a cena (non è obbligatoria, si prenota giorno per giorno ma consigliata caldamente!) pasta fatta in casa e prodotti del loro orto (come un vero agriturismo prevede ma non è sempre così!), menu che varia ogni giorno, prodotti certificati di presidi Slow Food, attenti alle esigenze di tutti: es. io sono vegetariana, ci sono sempre piatti vegetariani ma è capitato che avessi altre richieste o volessi una pasta nel menu che avesse carne, sono riusciti a farmi lo stesso piatto senza carne; voglio dire, non piatti sostitutivi/rimediati in 5 minuti/arrangiati ma dei piatti veri e propri per accontentare una cliente e non farla sentire “diversa/con un problema” (non mi capita spesso). Materie prime di altissimo livello, porzioni molto generose (come in tutta l'Umbria), rapporto qualità/prezzo eccellente. Ringraziamo ancora tutto lo staff: siete meravigliosi! Ci mancate!

Ho soggiornato in questa splendida e tranquilla struttura con mio marito e i miei figli. La posizione è strategica per chi vuole visitare le zone limitrofe. La colazione è eccezionale sia per i dolci fatti in casa sia perché la gusti guardando un paesaggio bellissimo e silenzioso, si sente solo il cinguettio degli uccelli. La piscina anche se piccola è molto rilassante. E se a cena vuoi gustare una cucina buona fatta con prodotti a km 0 , consiglio di cenare presso la struttura, tutto buonissimo. Un ringraziamento alle signore della colazione, gentilissime e bravissime a cucinare. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente.

B&B arroccato nel verde magico del monte Subasio. Alloggiamenti accoglienti e raccolti in stile francescano con piscina. Baricentrica rispetto a tutte le località turistiche di maggior richiamo, la location gioca il suo asso nella tavola. Patrizia vi incantera' con la sua cucina stellata in ambiente caldo ed accogliente sia in estate che in inverno. Prezzi assolutamente accettabili!

Abbiamo trascorso qualche giorno all’agriturismo La Malvarina per festeggiare il Capodanno ed è stata un’esperienza straordinaria. I due fratelli che lo gestiscono sono l’anima del luogo: cordiali, attenti e sempre pronti a soddisfare ogni esigenza. Il cibo è qualcosa di unico, con piatti preparati con ingredienti eccellenti e un’attenzione ai sapori che lascia senza parole. La colazione è un vero punto di forza, con prodotti freschi e di altissima qualità, un vero piacere per il palato! Un luogo che consigliamo a chiunque cerchi un’ospitalità autentica e un’esperienza enogastronomica di livello. Davvero un 10 e lode!
