Port Talbot

Stayed at this hotel at the beginning of February as I was down south wales for a little visit to see an old friend of mine. Firstly, I received a very warm friendly welcome from the lady who was at reception. she helped get me checked in with ease and sufficient timing. The room I was situated in was in they annex building which is situated a very small walk away. First impressions of the room were that it was very clean, very spacious and crisp fresh bedding. The bathroom was a nice size aswell. Had a very pleasant sleep whilst I was staying here as the mattress was very nice and comfy. The room comes with air con which was an added bonus. I had breakfast each morning whilst I stayed here in the beefeater which is right next door and the food which was served was delicious and freshly prepared. Over all impressions of this hotel were to a very high standard. They have very nice staff working there, room and bathroom were really nice, big car park which I felt safe leaving my car. I will definitely stay here again for any future visits to south wales. Also to add, the hotel is situated not far from aberavon beach which I had a lovely walk along and plenty of places to stop for a little coffee break.

Great easy to find location. Lovely staff on reception. Room was lovely and clean with plenty of towels and extra pillows. Windows open to allow a through breeze which was nice as so many hotels now don’t allow windows to open but don’t give you control over the heating either! Bed was a bit bouncy so every time husband moved I woke up. This was the only negative as breakfast the following morning was excellent - if a little slow to arrive. Would stay again but wiuld request twin beds.

We had a really pleasant long weekend stay at this hotel as we were down visiting family. First of all we had such a lovely warm welcome from the receptionist who got us all checked in as quick as possible. All staff that we encountered were all friendly and happy to help with any queries that we had. We booked a family room and it was a lot better than I was expecting with it being our first time staying in a premier inn with our baby. The room had plenty of room, was super clean and plenty of extra pillows which we needed. The bed was so comfy and we all had a really good sleep each night. We had booked breakfast for the full weekend in the beefeater which is right next door. Food was absolutely amazing. So fresh and plenty to choose from. Overall we had such a pleasant stay at this hotel - no complaints at all and will definitely stay here again next time we come visiting family. Highly recommend this hotel!!

We stayed here during the Christmas period, the staff were very welcoming and festive. On check in the kids were given a selection box (which went down really well with them). We didn’t spend much time in the hotel as we were down visiting family but the room seemed lovely and it was nice a quiet.we look forward to revisiting in the summer 😊

Excellent customer services even phoned to inform us we had forgotten some personal belongings so we could collect them. Will definitely be using them again. Rooms plenty of space and clean and everything works OK. Didn't have breakfast but from what we saw all looked OK.

I give the hotel 4 Stars, but I give the Beefeater Restaurant/Bar 1 Star, so 2* overall. The hotel section was absolutely fine. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and the check-in process was quick and easy. The room was clean, cosy, quiet and comfortable, but there was only 1 set of towels, but a call into reception resolved it quickly. However, the Beefeater Restaurant/Bar was very disappointing. The bar looks grubby and very tired. Seats and tables have marks and the carpet is stained and sticky in places. The restaurant isn't much better. The whole place needs to be closed down and completely refurbished. I happened to notice the food hygiene rating was 3*, which made me feel a very uneasy. I ordered 2 drinks and both glassed had lipstick on them, so had to be re-served. The bar staff resolved the issue quickly without any fuss, but they didn't apologise once! The cooked breakfast was chaotic and took too long to be served. What I got wasn't what I ordered and the staff never once asked if everything was OK with my breakfast. The whole concept of taking orders and then serving what was ordered is broken here. I would recommend buffet bar in front of the kitchen area, where guests can take what they want and not have to rely on serving staff getting it right every time. I’ve stayed here many, many times over the years and this was the worst stay by a long mile. I hope someone at Premier Inn reads this review and puts in place an action plan to get this location refurbed and back up to spec.

This hotel was the worst I have stayed in. I missed the part that I needed to let someone know if we wanted the room cleaned, there was no signs in the bedroom and nothing was said when we checked in. This means our room wasn't cleaned and when I went to reception, they were rude and very unhelpful. I'd left the do not disturb sign on the door, so common sense would say that when it was taken off, we needed the room cleaned. Then we have the restaurant. I have honestly never felt so disgusted with a restaurant before. The food was overpriced for what it was, and the quality of the food was appalling. What was worse was the state of the place. It was really dirty. Plates were put out with chocolate on from the night before! which meant we didn't feel safe to eat off them. I spoke to another guest who was ill the night before after eating in there. I even picked up an apple, thinking I would be safe with that, but it had something sticky on it! When I approached the staff with my concerns, I received blank looks and nothing else. No apologies, no attempts to make it right, absolutely NOTHING. Appalling customer service Obviously because of all of this we couldn't cope any longer and we checked out early. I am incredibly disappointed with Premier Inn and feel someone needs to sort out Port Talbot hotel asap!

I've stayed in three other Port Talbot hotels whilst visiting family and Premier Inn was by far the best experience, even though it wasn't as close to the beach as we would like. Would definitely recommend it.

Rude reception staff, blunt and to the point. A friendly smile wouldn’t go amiss. I asked about booking a table at the restaurant and was told there was nothing until 20:30. I went over at 18:00 and the place was pretty empty (not surprisingly given the quality of the food!). I’m not sure when the room was last hoovered which makes me wonder how clean the rest of the room is.
