I've returned to Madani as I had a wonderful experience some years ago, but the first night at Madani wasn't so great and I was disappointed. We arrived at the reception, but we found out there are 2 different receptions and the other one was a bot far to walk and they don't have transfer between the 2 locations(it was also a storm that evening). We didn't have hot water for the shower and the room was very dark (the lights are not great). The villa needs to be refurbished as it is getting old already and it doesn't reflect the high price. We ordered the flower bath, but we couldn't enjoy it in cold water. Also cleanliness is not the biggest asset of Madani, there are spots on the mosquito nets, spider webs and many dead insects around (we understand that it's located in the middle of nature, but these are the small details that matters). The next night we were moved to the family villa, which is a bit bigger and I think newer and the hot water was working so this experience was better. We had floating breakfast one morning, which was good looking but the taste was average for the price, not like I remembered, maybe because now they bring the breakfast from somewhere else. Also the response on whatsapp wasn’t the quickest one, but I think it was only one person at that time on reception because of low season. An important mention here: there are big gecko's in the villas so expect to have some noises during night time and also excrements on beddings or tables, this is not uncommon in Bali but for some people it might not be very pleasant. The lobby and garden of the villas are amazing, like paradise, but not for the persons who don't like nature and insects. Family villa was beautiful, I think it is a new construction. The villas are traditionally decorated, with good facilities and beautiful partially outside bathrooms. They provide paid transportation to center of Ubud (before it was a shuttle for free) and many other services if needed. Overall it was a pleasant stay mostly because of the beautiful location and kind staff, but my previous experience from years ago was very different and it's a shame that these villa's charm is disappearing but the price gets higher. Please don't let this happen and try to fix the problems. I would also like to thank the staff for trying to compensate the issues by offering free transfer and for the gift at the end of our stay.
