We booked to stay here for one night on our way home and booked a table in the restaurant. Our room (no 6) was right at the top of the building (no lifts). Although it was small it was perfectly adequate for a one-night stay. The bathroom was compact to say the least and there was not much room between the toilet and the wash basin. However, our reasons for choosing to stay there were because Logis hotels have an excellent reputation for providing good accommodation and good food at a sensible price and the ones that are categorised as “places of charm” invariably are charming. This one was no exception. We were able to enjoy aperitifs and the first part of our meal on the little terrace overlooking the mill wheels and the mill race, until it became too cold and we moved into the restaurant. As it was the last night of our holiday we opted for the “menu gourmand” priced at a very reasonable 46 euros for a 4 course meal which also included a palate cleanser and a Chef’s speciality sweet before the actual dessert. Our meal was delicious and the service attentive and helpful. The setting of the old grain mill buildings in a large garden and surrounded by water was delightful and picturesque. The current owners have been there for 6 years now and, from the information provided about the history of the mill, it’s clear that taking on a project of this size is no mean undertaking and will occupy them for some time to come. Although the carpet on the staircases has seen better days and the general appearance in the corridors is a bit shabby, there was nothing wrong with our room in terms of decoration/modernity. We also had wi-fi in the room. We hope that the hotel will go from strength to strength and would happily return there if the opportunity arises.
