Just returned home from a 4 night stay at Hotel Merkur. I had taken my 3 Children on a Monday to Friday holiday to celebrate their milestone Birthdays, my twins turned 21 and my other daughter celebrating her 40th. I chose this hotel because of the reviews of how friendly the hotel staff were and all the personal touches they provided, such as, bottle of bubbly on arrival and homemade Jam and/or marmalade as a leaving gift. Sadly we saw nothing of this despite me emailing them beforehand to inform them of our reason for the holiday. The room we had been given was 002 and although very basic, we had a great bathroom. The windows looked on to a wall so not much daylight in the room, but we were okay with this as it kept the room cool and we didn't plan to be in all that much. Not wanting to be negative, but... on arrival all we were given was the key and told where our room could be found, no welcome pack or even information about the hotel facilities etc. (We only found out on the last day that they had a courtyard we could have used and that they sold soft drinks at recetion.) The room didn't even have tea/coffee making equipment, which we found very unusual and disappointing. The last straw for us was, when checking out was asked if we had taken anything from the mini bar to which I replied "what mini bar?" "The one in your room" eh??? We didn't have a mini bar!! Left us thinking we must have had the worst room in the hotel and we felt like second class guests. On the positive side the towels and bedding were changed daily and the breakfast was good. Oh, I forgot to mention, my daughter came back to the hotel when I was asleep and didn't want to knock the door too loud in case it disturbed other guests, si asked us she could be let in and was told they didn't have another key, so she sat in reception. Eh???!!!. I loved Prague and will definitely go back, but not to Hotel Merkur.

Loved the thermal swimming pools, proximity to the beach, and the excellent breakfast buffet with freshly cooked food, if desired. The room was a very generous size.

Breakfast not worth the price tag

Binz is a seaside resort. The Dorint is not near the town center, but it is not far either. A free shuttle picked me up and dropped me off at the train station. All guests also receive a card which allows you to use some of the local transportation. Meal service was good (breakfast buffet included, and a dinner buffet option). The room was large with a kitchenette. The entire premises was clean with particular attention to the COVID situation (needed to be immunized to stay there, everything disinfected, etc.). The spa and indoor pool were lovely, and hotel service was good. I cannot say how well they spoke English because I speak German, which I used.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Unser Appartement sehr geräumig. Es ist etwas abgelegen.Zur Seebrücke läuft man ca.25 min.Die Preise für Frühstück und Abendessen sind meiner Meinung zu hoch.

Wir können es immer wieder empfehlen, hatten ein Apartment und es ist nicht nur sehr sauber auch schön geräumig.Auch wenn wir nur zum Schlafen dort waren und sonst nur unterwegs waren. Man hat viel Unternehmen können. Das Frühstück hatten wir mit dazu gebucht,auf den ersten Blick ist es sehr unübersichtlich, aber dann findet man doch alles was man braucht,schade nur das kein Fisch angeboten wurde,aber das war nicht so schlimm.Man ist satt geworden und das ist das wichtigste. Abends sind wir immer schwimmen gegangen,war witzig ,da man mit dem Bademantel durch die Garage gehen konnte und es war gut ausgeschildert. Trotz das es Wohnblöcke sind war es sehr ruhig und das tat abends natürlich sehr gut u runter zu kommen.

In überragender Bemühtheit kann sich diese Erhohlungsabfertigungsanlage leichterhand mit fast jeder Jugendherberge messen. Durch die unter den Appartement Häusern angeordnete Tiefgarage erreicht man fast direkt den Wellness Bereich, um vorab noch einmal herzhaft die Abgase der einparkenden Autos einzuatmen, bevor man den recht sauberen Umkleidebereich - Marke Hallenbad - durchquert hat. Aber dann hat man auch schon den Wellnessbereich erreicht. In den vorderen Becken können die Kinder abgegeben werden. Gleich daran schließt sich sinnvoll der Ruheraum an, durch den sich die Wellnessgäste mit quietschenden Latschen zum Sole/Schwebebad begeben. Keine Angst: keiner schläft hier auf dem Wasser ein. Dafür sorgt die tief brummende Abluftanlage die auch den Ruhebereich vor der Sauna vom Duft der Mittelmäßigkeit zu erlösen sucht. Ein überragendes, teilweise gesondert zu entlohnendes Fitness Angebot: 1x wöchentlich Yoga und sogar 3x wöchentlich Wassergymnastik geben Gelegenheit über ein Büffet zu senieren, an dem man sich ungeniert vollstopfen kann, und an dem es nicht eine Sache gibt die man nicht auch noch ein wenig billiger hätte anbieten können. Nur der Teppich irritiert: er ist nicht abgetreten; es ist das Muster. Und auch die schlichten Glaselemente die die Ruhebereiche überdacht halten sind dem Regen gewachsen. Auch die Temperatur ist erträglich und die Zimmer sind sauber. Wie sagt der Berliner so kongenial: Da gibt es nichts zu meckern!
