Château de Bournel

...why this seems to be such a popular destination for golf travellers. My guess: it's the wonderful Chateau set in a vast park with old trees. But when it comes to golf this might be one of the biggest disappointments I have ever experienced - and I feel a bit qualified to judge after having played close to 400 courses around the globe. The entire course has been in rather bad shape with rock hard fairways, unraked bunkers, uneven and unkept teeing grounds. Whether this is due to lack of staff (I have not seen one greenkeeper all day) and/or lack of funds I don't know and the conditions might change to the better. The REAL problem however is that the terrain is simply not suitable for even a mediocre course. As my friend Tom D. (well-known designer) once told me, the most important issues for a good course are: 'location, location, location!' Truth to be told: The terrain at Bournel does not provide either of these three characteristics. The hanging fairways on at least half a dozen holes are sending your even well struck ball in all sorts of unwanted/unfriendly lies - not what leisure golfers are really looking for. Even some beautiful views and great green locations can not make up for the bad layout. Value 4 money (golf only!) 2/5.

Considering the beautiful surroundings, the buildings, the grounds, the restaurant is far far from being anywhere near the same level. The menu choice is incredibly poor and the cooking of each dish is frankly more cafe bistro than chateau level food. My fish mouse tasted only of cheese, was stone cold in the middle and hot on the outside and the consistency was that of undercooked eggs. The vegetables were not well prepared, stringy beans and the mushrooms were just inedible. As for the entree, we’ll for €5 and a trip to Super U I could prepare the same. Totally overpriced for the amateur level of cooking to be blunt. Such a shame but seems to be a consistent comment from other reviews.

Superbe séjour dans un château authentique, qui dégage une atmosphère unique chargée d’une vraie noblesse. Les chambres confortables donnent sur une cour de charme où on entend les oiseaux chanter. La brasserie est très bonne et le service attentionné. Nous avons eu la chance de participer à la soirée italienne de la semaine de golf, où le concert de jazz était parfait. Nous reviendrons pour golfer. Vive la Franche-Comté, profonde, riche et mystérieuse.

...la grande déception !! On est au restaurant du château de Bournel...chaises dépareillées, couverts dépareillés... je suis peut être au bistrot du coin 🤔. Et tout s'enchaîne, apéritif sans la moindre cacahuète,plats insipides,mal présentés, poisson à peine cuit... Vin servi sans présenter la bouteille quand même un"viré classé" !! C'est un enchaînement de déception,on y croit pas, finalement digne d'une cafétéria ! .. rapport qualité-prix 0 moins moins.à éviter totalement !!

Le cadres de st Beau, les plats sont bons et gourmands. Il faut penser à réclamer pour avoir les boissons et en temps de forte chaleur un peu dommage. Mais une heure d’attente avec les desserts commandés en début de repas, pour deux boules de glaces et un fondant. Le restaurant n’était pas plein du tout

Mooie omgeving. Middelmatige service. Weinig aandacht voor gasten. Restaurant (en die in de omgeving) op zondag gesloten. Complex heeft aan binnenzijde achterstallig onderhoud. Prachtige golfbaan maar minimaal onderhouden. Prijs/kwaliteit zeker niet in verhouding.
