1 hour 50 minute flight from Gatwick to Olbia with EasyJet followed by a seamless journey through the airport to meet the Tui Rep Sara who quickly divided us up into our hotel groups for the coach transfer. We were informed that the coach would be 15 minutes late! 20 mins later no show. Further information came through that we were now waiting for two passengers from the BA Heathrow flight, then we were told there had been a crash holding the coach up. Us Tui Customers were all very calm, understanding and patient. The Rep was constantly on the phone and did keep us updated as best she could. We were told the coach had at last arrived (top banana) and were then ushered outside. Sadly, it was all an illusion as the coach never did turn up. The Rep then informed us that we would need to get a taxi to the hotel at our own expense and claim back the money. Our group of 8, now a little cheesed off but still calm, suggested that perhaps it would be a reasonable request for Tui to organise and pay for our transfer! The Rep stated that this was not possible. We therefore had no option but to organise a minibus ourselves and pay the €160 fare for the 30 minute drive to the hotel. The Rep said that we’d be reimbursed via bank transfer at the hotel. We weren’t happy with this insisting on a cash refund. The poor girl, now at the end of her tether and perhaps to pacify us said “we’d get paid in cash at the hotel”. We finally arrived at Matta village some 2 hours later, obtaining a receipt for €160 from the driver. God knows what ever happened to the BA passengers… At last we were at the hotel. The girl at reception was none the wiser about the pantomime show we’d just experienced. No welcome drink on arrival, restaurant was shut, however a bottle of wine and a tasty salmon salad was waiting in our room. Great fun in the morning explaining everything to Meggie the Tui hotel rep about what happened, eventually we were reimbursed in full, but that was the whole morning of our first day used up. Not good enough Tui, please don’t let this happen again and if it does, have a robust plan “B” to get your guests to the hotel without this fuss! A positive out of a negative though, the eight of us late arrivals all gelled and we had a great time for the rest of the holiday, the weather was fantastic all week too! Collecting our passports next morning first thing, we wanted to book the wine tasting event only to be told it was fully booked (Deep joy). Our room was very nice (219) in a very quiet location with a pomegranate tree over our balcony, perfect! A very large firm bed which we found comfortable and we slept very well. The internet worked perfectly all week. The pool was lovely great once you were in, but as others have said mould and algae was clear to see. The poolside furniture and cushions were also grimy and wanted replacing. The food was good, not exceptional by any means but well presented, loved the local cheeses especially the runny gorgonzola a
