Apartamentos Cala d'Or Playa

We booked a family holiday for 11,family from Australia joined us,it was the best holiday we have ever had,the staff from reception to the entertainment staff and the help and courtesy we we were given was fantastic,nothing was too much trouble,Charles in entertainment was outstanding,he spent so much time with the kids,he worked very long hours and was always cheerful,bar staff were most helpful and entertaining,they kept the Majorcan mojitos flowing lol...Tony's specials....there was a lovely married couple who waited on us and we've forgot there names but they looked after us every day and night...hotel arranged a mobility scooter which arrived in five minutes...we loved our stay here and can't recommend it highly enough,fantastic for the kids,the rooms are spotless and so are the surrounding areas...thanks for such a wonderful and memorable holiday..best ever

Stayed as a family of 3 in the first 6 nights of June in a superior apartment. Paid extra, (this is new), for a pool view and pool towels. We had the very top floor which was ok apart from the first night when we arrived to find the lift broken and had to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Top floor also has no shade on the balcony so if you like that then request one lower. This was our 4th visit, having been before in 2014, 2021, and 2023. And it was not the same experience! With the departure of the lovely Rudi and no more evening buffet, what had also disappeared was any decent evening entertainment and bar service with a smile. Instead there was a kids show which we missed as eating out and when we returned they were just wrapping everything up at 10:30pm and said right kids that’s it and parents I’m sure you also want to go to bed and so off everyone dutifully went in a mass exodus. Where are the fantastic shows? The party in the pool? The BBQ night and parrot show? The lovely cocktails served til nearly midnight? The atmosphere? Oh dear, what has happened? Breakfasts were as good as usual, especially the lady who does the eggs who is lovely and will cook to order. However clearly breakfast supplies are so good we witnessed many tables taking piles of bread, eggs, and fruit and shoving them in their bags clearly for a cheap lunch. Many of the sunloungers need replacing and are not very clean, the step in the jacuzzi pool was broken, and the paddles for ping pong are worn. No money is being invested. Entertainment cut back, staff cut back. Why? Also on one night we had a meal booked at Churchills on the marina, which is excellent do go, yet reception appeared to have a broken phone and couldn’t call a taxi, although they did provide a very good shrug of the shoulders. We walked to the Cala Azul which we have also stayed in many times and got a taxi in 5 mins and a smile which was nice. Overall we enjoyed our holiday as we are fortunate to be able to eat out every night and Cala D’Or is great but this hotel has lost its sparkle for us. If you have very little ones then you may enjoy it especially if you like an early bedtime and a takeaway pizza for dinner which the hotel now provides. We will return to Cala D’Or but I think we had the best out of this hotel and so like Rudi we will also now retire!

Just got back from a great week at Cala D'or Playa. The hotel has a great location only a few minutes walk to the beach and multiple restaurants. The staff at the hotel are great. Special mention to Jose at the pool bar. Always smiling and happy to have a joke with you. The entertainment was mixed with acrobats, singers and magicians. Would be nice if went on a little longer. The animation team are great with kids during day and our kids were sad to say goodbye. Although they were lucky enough to bump into Charles outside the hotel to say goodbye. He was brilliant and took time to stop and chat with them before we left. We only sampled the breakfast once and the pool snack bar a few times but had no complaints. The rooms are more than adequate and are kept clean by the hard working cleaners. The pool area is nice and we did manage to get sunbeds (they do get reserved). However it is slippy so beware. We seen a few children slip and require treatment. My wife also slipped onto her back luckily only hurting her pride. A solution is needed for these slippy tiles before someone gets really hurt. Other than this a really pleasant enjoyable stay in a lovely resort with plenty to do for everyone.

We’ve just landed back home after a fantastic 7 day stay here, we have had the best week & would recommend this hotel we are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 6 & 3, Positives: Staff fantastic Cleaners great Food really good Slides, pools & sun beds great never had issues getting sun beds Area fab Everything was really good, the only negative I have is the last 2 nights have been really loud with people slamming doors moving furniture etc late at night as expected on holiday however it does keep you awake. It was our first time to Cala dor and what a beautiful place it is, we will be back, thank you for a lovely time. Carry on doing what you’re doing because your hard work is paying off.

This is our second visit here and on both occasions we have had a fabulous time. The hotel is great and the local beaches are lovley. This year we have been amazed by the brilliant kids entertainers! A special mention to Charles, Karolina, Katja and Alex for being so energetic and kind to our kids! Our 5-7 year old followed you around for the last few days in awe. Grace especially :) We had breakfast everyday in the hotel which was great and enjoy the pool and Cala Gran and Esmerelda beaches! We would 100% recommend this as an option for a family we young children. I would be cautious about reading any other negative reviews as you always have several people moanimg about the slightest thing. Some people were not happy with the lifeguard trying to be consistent in applying the rules of inflateables in the pool and on the slides however we had no problems with this and fully understood the rationale behind this. The lifeguards were professional and are only trying to do their jobs. Again, similar with sunbeds. We had no issues and understood the lifeguard placing signs on beds to stop people reserving them over night! In summary, it is a great hotel and fantastic staff. In is located in an ideal spot. We stayed here for 10 nights in June and had the best holiday. All staff work so hard and are polite and friendly. The animation team are fantastic. My 4 year old daughter loved the mini disco and the bouncy castle. We also enjoyed the shows, apart from one but even that one made us laugh! My daughter still talks about the animation team and the shows. The mini disco is at 8.15pm and the show is at 9pm. All entertainment finished at about 10.30pm. The bar staff also deserve a shout out because they work so hard and keep up with everyone's orders. The slides are great. The sunbeds get busy but we always manged to get at least one whatever time of the day we went to the pool. Great location. 5 minutes walk to two beaches (walk out of the back gate). Walk out the front of the hotel and you'll find lots of nice restaurants and there's a play park and supermarket just up the road. About 20 minutes walk to the marina. I'd definitely recommend for families with young children.
