Cardwell Beachcomber Motel & Tourist Park

Golly but these people are customer focussed. One cannot even begin to write about this experience without special mention of Bronwyn who was so incredibly responsive and helpful. She’s a definite keeper! We were travelling with our pet and were given a delightful cabin at the entrance which however, did not meet our bedding requirements which are twin-bed. Bronwyn not only provided us with a facility which met our requirements but immediately credited our account since this “improved” room applies a lesser rate. Yes, the room was older and the bathroom could do with a refurb but it was spotlessly clean, well equipped with toiletries and towels, wonderfully quiet and in fact about half as large again as the first room offered. The only negative was that the wifi was inadequate but that did not bother us in the slightest since our primary goal was to have a great night’s sleep and we did. We would not think of staying anywhere else should we again be looking to overnight in Cardwell.

The restaurant was a bit expensive but a good meal, caravan sites were very dry grass and dusty roads in comparison to the front entrance which was lush green grass,to suck you in I guess. Dated amenities but clean ,good wifi, lots of yapping dogs which the manager doesn't seem to control. Expensive in comparison to other parks

Neat clean and excellent location opposite the beach and you have a veiw of hinchenbrook island. Excellent restaurant and bar on premises. The location has everything you can do as much as you want or in our case returning from Cape York just taking it easy and doing as little az possible. The prices are very reasonable and facilities laundry pool just be mindful of crocodiles signs up as well

We were so looking forward to staying in this park. We had specifically booked a slab site at the beginning of April and were told there are more slabs than grass. When we got there they had put us on a grass site. When we enquired if we could move we were told the park was fully booked. We had to go and buy a cheap floor mat. Two days later 6 slab sites were still empty in front of us so we went to enquire why we couldn’t have moved. We were told our van was too big (18ft) however there were 2 vans a lot bigger than us including a huge motorhome on the sites. When we asked how come bigger vans than ours were on there we were told if we are unhappy we could get a refund (not sure whether it would have been a credit or whether it was for 1 night only) if we packed up now and left. This was on our last day at approx 12pm in the pouring rain had it been day 1 we would have done it for sure. Our neighbours in the Park also just couldn’t understand why the Management did what they did it just didn’t make sense. We are sadly giving up caravanning through ill health but we had intended to return to use the cabins in the future – not now and our friends in 3 vans who are travelling now and were considering coming to this park will be giving the Park a miss. Great disappointment but luckily the only van park in 3 months that has been like that in fact the worse service we have ever had.
