Spire View at the Galleon Restaurant

Check-in was easy with limited, free onsite parking, we never struggled to get a space whilst there. Room itself and adjoining bathroom were clean and spacious so no issues there either. You can exit the room via the restaurant or via the fire-escape leading to the car-park, not an issue for us, but you might want to check access arrangements if mobility is limited and restaurant is not open. Accommodation is well located, very close to the city centre but far enough away from any noisy revellers, the Restaurant bar is also available to guests for as long as the restaurant is open. Continental buffet breakfast was included in the price and was laid out in the corridor between the bedrooms comprising; pastries, bread, juices, teabags, pod coffee machine, milk, yoghurt, cereals, preserves and kettle/toaster etc. Overall, we enjoyed our stay though there were a couple of minor niggles; popping down one evening to buy one last drink to take back to the room, we were served immediately but got caught behind a large group of youngsters splitting a sizeable food order about six ways, with predictable queries and amendments along the way. Because there is apparently only one card reader I had to wait for that lengthy process to complete before I could pay for the drinks, not ideal at the end of an evening when you just want to turn-in and mind your own business. Also, having attended parkrun on Saturday, the cleaner who was in the hallway clearing away the buffet asked us if we’d like the room freshening that day and fresh towels bringing, we agreed that would be nice. On leaving the room a little later however, I did see her again and thanked her for offering to refresh the room, but said not to worry about changing the towels, our existing ones would do us for our final morning. On returning to the room later that evening, the room had not in fact been made up at all, with the Please Make Up the Room sign still hanging on the door, bed still unmade and bins unemptied. Neither of those things show-stoppers, but does prevent the review from being Five Stars. Would I recommend this place and stay here again? Definitely, could the customer experience be tweaked to be even better, almost certainly.

Great place for a stopover on the way to a funeral in the North East. Very large comfortable room ( Chatsworth room). Spotlessly clean, nice bathroom, good shower, comfy huge bed. Breakfast items are out on the landing to self select and serve either out there or in your room (great idea). Lots of choice for a continental breakfast. WiFi is not great. Rooms are above a steak restaurant, only ate there on the first night and the food was exceptional. Free parking so close to Town Centre is a bonus. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Visitd on a suday night nothing was to much trouble Food was spot on cooked exactly as requested Vert tasty We also stayed overnight in the rooms above very nice massive bed , room very clean and tastfully decorated with ensuit and walk in shower. Continetal Breakfast set outside you room just help you self nice and light after a big meal the night before. All at at good price Will definatly return

We stayed for 2 nights in the Chatsworth room at The Spire View and would definitely stay again. The room was lovely and spacious and the staff were friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to provide gluten free breakfast items and a member of staff even moved their car so we could park in the car park. We had nice meals in the restaurant on the Thursday night and the central location meant there were plenty of options to eat out too. Would definitely recommend!

First of all, a massive thank you to Matthew who was the point of contact who arranged everything so smoothly despite my late arrival. The room was great value for money, was large and the bed had enough pillows for any reasonable human being to use. If you read this Matthew- thanks once again- you need to sort the shower out and maybe some more soundproofing if possible, but otherwise, it was a pleasure.

3rd time staying here and it never disappoints. Beautiful spotless large rooms, the beds are so comfortable. We book all four rooms as a group, 8 of us stay overnight so we have the place to ourselves . Matt and his team are amazing and can't do enough for you, we are always made so welcome. We always have evening meal in their restaurant, the meals are fantastic, best steak ever. It's a self service continental breakfast in a communal area just outside the bedrooms so easy to have a relaxed breakfast in bed. Can't recommend this place enough.
