I came with a 4 year old child. First, when I informed the hotel that I cannot find the key, they insisted that I have to find the key when I told them I am willing to pay the monies for the lost key.
When I left the hotel to go for a short walk after check-out, upon return to collect the luggage, the hotel initially insist that we pay $200 to clean the room and damaged items. I asked them what was damaged and the only thing they could show was a broken lamp. They initially insisted that the place was dirty and require cleaning, to which I reply this is a hotel, of course cleaning is needed. They then insist that I pay EU $100 for a broken lamp that is of a very low quality otherwise they will call the police. I told them I am willing to pay but they should only charge for the cost of the lamp and they insist that the cost of the replacement lamp is EU $100. I asked them why EU $100 and not EU $30. They have no response but insist if i don’t then they refuse to return the luggage and ask me to wait for the police. By holding on to my luggage and threatening to call the police, this is false imprisonment. I have to rush to Zurich and therefore have no choice but to allow them to charge EU $100 to the card.
