Hotel des Alpes

Excellent value! Loved the location which was a short drive to town. Plus the staff kindly upgraded us from a basic room to the next grade. Breakfast was great too. Parking was pretty easy right in front of the hotel, though it can get crowded if you come back v late. Overall Nothing to fault.

Hotel is nice enough in the comfort rooms, with great view over the valley and surrounding mountains. Breakfast leaves a bit to be desired but otherwise a nice place to stay.

Our stay at Des Alpes was wonderful! We were given an upgrade in our room so we had a nice deck area to look out to see the mountains. The room was very clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast buffet was fabulous! There were many choices of delicious and healthy food to choose from. The staff were exceptionally helpful when we realized we had left our passports in the safe when we traveled to our next town. They went above and beyond to help us remedy the situation. I would definitely recommend Des Alpes for travelers to Cortina.

My friend and I had a very comfortable stay here for 5 nights in September 2023. This was our landing base while we hiked in the Dolomites. The staff were very helpful, let us store our luggage, and our room was perfect. Great accommodation for a reasonable price.

I sent my clothes to be cleaned by the staff. I had colours and whites together. They didn’t separate them, and washed them in hot water. Everything came out an ugly shade of grey. The only ones to somewhat survive (they faded) were my black clothing. I brought it to their attention but they refused to take responsibility. They blamed me for not telling them to wash them in cold water and separate. Really? Who doesn’t know that? I had expensive smart wool tops and bottoms. My pyjamas are dull and lifeless. I still have 3 months of travel and have to deal with wearing ugly gray clothing, I’ll have to discard them when I get home. I brought it to their attention and they refused any responsibility. I showed them pictures of the clothing so they could see the true colours. They only got angry with me. This is typical reaction of someone who knows they have done wrong.

Room was comfortable, a bit old but clean. I was surprised to have a little balcony which gave me a side view of the mountains. The balcony was looking into my other neighbours balcony though as ours were adjacent to each other in an L shape formation. There was no fridge in my room. My friends room had a fridge. Restaurant had decent food, I enjoyed the pork belly dish with apple sauce and saukraut. The dessert was not the best but the main dishes were good. I enjoyed the common terrace that overlooked the mountains which was a beautiful location. It is a scenic walk into town about 20minutes.

Cortina is sort of the heart of the Dolomites (site of the '56 winter Olympics and the upcoming 2026 winter olympics) thus Hotel des Alpes is a beautiful little town and ideal location for exploring these breathtaking mountains and lakes. It is located on the main road north of the town with parking on one side and the hotel on the other. The staff was helpful with finalizing plans for where to visit nearby with realistic with the time available. There is a nice sitting area just off the lobby with bar service, a pleasant dining area that is used for dinner and breakfast bar, and beautiful views from the room and restaurant. Would definitely return if we get the chance to spend more time in the Dolomites.

We booked well in advance and this hotel was the only one with availability. We were thankful to be able to get it as Cortina d'ampezzo is spectacular. This hotel is a little bit outside the main part of town, 1 km, so glad it was quiet and convenient for us. Breakfast was okay, parking was free. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

I was not a hotel guest, but visited the restaurant here as I was staying with my family nearby. Very pleasantly surprised to find high end Alpine cuisine at very reasonable prices. I work and eat in London's financial district and am not easily impressed. I was here. Don't be fooled by the homely surroundings. There are thoughtful, sophisticated interpretations of local cuisine to be found here. If you're lucky you'll be offered a free shot of the robust, homemade firewater made from local alpine wildflower roots. East Scotland's finest meets angostura bitters - unique. Buon appetito!
