HD Beach Resort

The hotel is clean, friendly staff and great food/drinks. Known beer on tap which is unusual. A free 3 course meal is offered one night per week of your stay at the in house Italian restaurant. The waiting staff Juan Pedro & Diego were attentive and never missed a beat. Our drinks were always full and empty plates briskly taken away. The food was incredibly tasty and we hardly waited between courses, the chef Manu was incredibly inclusive of our son’s dairy allergy. He had a dairy free pizza & mango ice lolly which he devoured. The waiting staff in the main restaurant are also very kind. They’ve always found dairy free alternatives for us and been incredibly kind and helpful. We would love to return in the future. We have already recommended to friends and family and our holiday isn’t over yet! The tui rep, Marie, has also been wonderful and helped us book 2 excursions with recommendations for family friendly days out.

Our 1st time to the HD resort. Beach front location fringing the northern edge of Teguise. Spacious rooms, clean but with footfall of guests annually, decor could use a refresh. Jairo evening bar and Macarena pool bar 5 star Bueno, gracias

We’ve stayed here for a lovely week: 2+2 family. I can’t think of anything I didn’t like. Warm reception, very spacious rooms, great food (choices and quantity), there’s always something to do but nowhere is overcrowded. The bars, the entertainment, the pools. Faultless. Special thanks to the animation team (G+L+H) for making us feel at home and offering fun things like meditation, cocktail sampling and so much more. The hotel is close to town but far enough that you feel separated from the crowds.It’s is child friendly yet not children full. An all round fantastic hotel and a great holiday destination. Hotel The hotel exterior is modern and it overlooks a small beach and the sea. The reception space follows this. It's clean and the main spaces are well kept. The staff were friendly. It has 2 pool spaces. One on a lower level and one on an upper level. Both are a decent size and the lower pool is aimed at kids with a splash pool. There are plenty of sun beds and we found there was no reserving and even at 9/10am, you could get a bed easily. The activities that go on in the day are all fitness based. There's no alternatives such as bingo, quizzes, pool games ect. We felt the hotel was quite adult in it's orientation but that might have been because there weren't many kids there. Room The room was big. We had a junior suit. It had a bedroom, bathroom and a living space. We had a huge balcony. We were in 144. The balconies are all a bit overlooked. More than I've seen before but that wasn't an issue. The rooms are a little tired as in previous reviews but they're clean and functional. There is a fridge, kettle, microwave and a toaster. As well as a fixed to the wall hairdryer. There wasn't many coat hangers. We only had 7 in total but there's loads of wardrobe space. The bathroom had double sinks and is spacious. There is a drying rack on the balcony but bring pegs - it's windy! Food and Drink There are 3 bars. One at the front that overlooks the sea which is chilled, a pool bar and the main entertainment space. Note that the AI finishes at 11pm. This wasn't clear for us before we went. There are limited cocktails then the usual spirits. The wine is nice. Normal and rose procecco are included and the beer on AI is Amstel. You can get water from the pool bar 24 hrs from a machine. You get a bottle of water in the room on arrival. Not sure if you get another. We just filled it up. You get glass glasses from everywhere but the pool bar which is good The food was nice. The selection isn't huge but it's still decent. Providing you don't have one of everything every day, the food isn't repetitive. The dishes are similar most days with slight variations but there are 5 or 6 different things. We're not picky with food but if you are a simple eater, there's not a huge choice of things like pizza ect. There are snacks on the pool bar like hot dogs and burgers which might be more to the simple taste. Location The hotel is well located about 15 mins from the centre. Its a lovely walk along the coast but at night, part of this route isn't lit. You can also easily walk along the street side too. There is a little shopping centre about 5 mins walk then the sea front and square is about 10 mins beyond this. The resort is a nice level of busy. When we were there is was mostly couples (of mixed ages) there were a few families but not a huge amount of kids (maybe that's the time of year). We knew this hotel was due to close for refurbishment but for a 4 star hotel we didn’t expect the food and drink quality to be so poor. Food and drink. There are only two restaurants, the buffet and an a la carte Italian. You can visit the Italian once a week but it had a fixed menu with no vegetarian option. The main restaurant was always very busy and we often found a table but had to go in search of cutlery, condiments etc. It seemed very understaffed. We found the food only ok as the vegetarian choice was very poor. The wine was available in iced buckets but it was very poor quality and barely drinkable. I had lentil soup one day and found it contained meat. Most hotels have themed nights but this didn’t. The pool bar had a few snacks but again little vegetarian choice. One day there was meat in all of the sandwiches. The bar drinks in the evening were ok though one day we asked for a gin and tonic and it was undrinkable. The vodka and orange tasted as if it was made with squash. The cocktails were awful. Thank goodness for the Cava and Sangria. There was a nice bar in the evening at the front of the hotel although when it rained this was closed as it was outside. There weren’t enough comfortable seats as most were bar stools. There was occasional entertainment out there, which was good. Pool. The first floor pool had lovely sea views and the pool was refreshing. However there was no bar or waiter service so to get a drink we had to go down steep steps to the pool bar. The activities organisers were very good and I enjoyed a good pool bike session. The problem with the pool were the loud guests who seem unable to have a normal conversation without shouting or making us listen to their phone calls on speaker. The hotel can’t be blamed for that however. Rooms. The rooms were very dated, furniture broken and scruffy and no usb ports etc but the hotel is closing in May for about 6 months. The rooms were all suites with a living room, bathroom and bedroom. Bed comfortable. Plenty of hot water. The stairs were not lit (there were light shades but they were never lit up) and we had to climb up and down very carefully at night. Location. The hotel is right at the end of the resort but there was a nice 15 minute walk into the resort along mainly paved promenade. We did that several times through the day and once in the evening to go for a real cocktail! Overall, the hotel is in serious need of refurbishment and when it reopens I hope there will be a much better choice for vegetarians, extra seating in outdoor areas, a bar at the top pool and better quality drinks.

We stayed at HD Beach Resort in January and had a mixed experience. Positives: * Brilliant Location: The location is outstanding, the local beachfront is full of stops, restaurants, bars and market stalls. * Delicious Food: The food was a highlight. It was consistently fresh, hot, and offered a good variety of choices. * Excellent Drinks: The all-inclusive drinks selection was impressive. * Great staff: Some of the staff at the hotel were amazing including waiters and waitresses, receptionist when we were leaving and the bar manager. Negatives: * Fly Issue: Unfortunately, our downstairs room was plagued by flies, likely due to inadequate airing out since the previous guests. While the hotel sent a fumigator and tried to address the issue, it wasn't resolved during our stay. * Reception on arrival: When we arrived, early at approx 1pm. We were greeted by a less then helpful receptionist. His manner and mannerisms were rather rude and quite unhelpful. He didn't explain the towel system correctly which a heads up is 20 euro deposit for 1 towel. We were told it was 20 euros full stop. * Still pending a much needed refurb: Not the worst by any stretch but is looking quite tired and could make itself a 5 star with a good refurb and modernization. At the minute starting to creep into the 3 star zone. Overall: While the food and drinks were fantastic, the fly issue significantly impacted our enjoyment. The hotel's efforts to rectify the situation were appreciated, but ultimately unsuccessful. We have since received compensation for the inconvenience. Recommendation: I would recommend HD Beach Resort with the caveat that guests should carefully inspect their rooms upon arrival and immediately report any issues.
