The Old Mill

Staying at the days inn nearby as The Mill was full for rooms but booked for a meal instead. It looked great online and this was the start of our holiday before we flew off to Portugal on an early flight from Newcastle the next day. We called the week or so beforehand and asked whether we had to book and they said there was no need even although it was a Saturday night. Granted it wasnt their fault that we couldnt get a taxi from the Days Inn and we called to apologise that we would be later and no one at that point said that there would be a long wait for food. Eventually unable to get a taxi we decided to take the car and not drink, een although we only wanted to have a glass of wine with what we hoped would be a lovely meal ( pictures online). However when we arrived it took a long time for someone to approach us and it seemed relatively busy but was told that the wait for food would be 45mins to an hour and we didnt have that time as we wanted to have an early night to get some sleep before getting up around 3.30am for our flight. So disappointed we left and ended up with a McDonalds take away from the motorway services at the Days Inn. Nothing against McDonalds but what a shame Old Mill ....maybe tell people to book to avoid disappointment. We even e mailed and they said they were looking forward to seeing us.

great 2 night stay luvly quirky hotel spotlessly clean, beds very comfortable, very nice clean shower room with rain shower, staff very pleasent, food was amazing breakfast and evening meals all very nicely presented, had a wonderful stay Already reccomended 5star service

Not 4 star. Room door was open on arrival and was stifling hot, took a while to cool after turning radiator off and opened windows. A mop was left in the bathroom. Very small tv. Bed was comfy and food good. Quite thin walls as could hear talking in the hall and doors banging. Painting was taking place up the stairs, so old curtains left in a heap on the landing and paint smell was cloying. Two flights of stairs were covered in bits. If you have mobility issues, only one hand rail on the stairs, so don't get 2nd floor. Just OK for the money.
