A very pleasant stay with this place! Comfortable bed, spacious room, super quiet especially at night. It's a new property opened last year, very clean and neat. The whole place is superb cozy and instagrammble! The host is very friendly and enthusiastic throughout our stays and even helped us to get some local vinegars! Yet, near the happening streets - dong ba yao, very convenient. Highly recommend this awesome place!!

A truly spectacular place to stay while in Datong. The owner and his staff made us feel very welcome, questions and requests were attended to promptly and with a smile. When the owner asked us to treat the place like our home, he meant it, and looked after us like family. Our room was stylish, elegant and comfortable, the contemporary finish inside allowed us our modern comforts while retaining its historical facade. Our room was one of two that shared a courtyard. Although too cold to sit outside, I can see a return in warmer weather to enjoy the courtyard. The first three pictures were provided by the owner as we were too excited and forgot to take pictures of the room, but they mirror reality. The last picture was ours, and will remind us of the magical time we had here. The accommodation is a short walk to the South gate of the old city wall, close to the buzz of the shops of the old city but away from the crowds. Five star hotels can learn a thing or two about service from this establishment. We will be back.

This is a new place that just opened in Nov 2025. The boss is very welcoming and extremely helpful. He recommended good restaurants for us to try and as foodies, this is pretty important. They also washed and folded our clothes for us, and I have 2 pretty big bags of clothes to wash. The hotel is located in the old town and you can walk to a night food street close by. We stayed in the smallest room, but it has everything you need. Will come back again as this city is an amazing historical city. Winter is not crowded at all, so you can consider visiting in winter.

A very cosy homestay in the heart of the very charming Datong old town. There's underground parking that goes straight to the doorstep of the B&B which is a lifesaver during winter. Absolutely loved the tasteful design and the little artistic trinkets placed all around the house. There's also a free laundry service which was very much appreciated. Master of the house is a very friendly gentleman who gave us great tips especially on the hidden gems restaurants (ask him about the awesome copper hotpot outside the city beside President Hotel). It's walking distance to the food and nightspot street across the road, and is also beside the Southern City Wall as well as the (in my opinion criminally underrated) Shanhua Temple 善化寺 which is quiet, dignified and zen, housing some of the oldest Liao and Jin Dynasty architecture and sculptures.

One of the best stays I've staid in so far! The architecture is amazing, location perfect in the city center yet easy to reach for taxis, it's spotless clean, cozy warm and the owner is a really nice guy who enjoys inviting his guests for a tea and conversation. If you go to Datong, stay in this place and you'll be happy!

Staying at Jiuhuli·Siheyuan Guesthouse (Ancient City Drum Tower Branch) 玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店） was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely unique — being inside the ancient city walls of Datong and staying in a traditional Chinese courtyard house made the entire experience feel authentic and unforgettable. It is much more than just a hotel; it is a cultural experience. The decoration and design are impeccable: elegant, refined, and beautifully done with incredible attention to detail. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with high-quality products, premium facilities, and a very peaceful atmosphere that made us feel at home immediately. What made our stay even more exceptional was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way. They helped us arrange an excellent private driver at a very reasonable price, which allowed us to enjoy a perfectly smooth and efficient day visiting three major attractions outside the city: the Hanging Temple, the Yungang Grottoes, and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. Everything was organized flawlessly, making the trip completely stress-free and enjoyable. Overall, the service was simply amazing from beginning to end. Amazing boutique hotel experience in Datong! Friendly service staff and boss personally gave us a roundtrip transfer to the train station. Room was clean and spacious. Will definitely stay here again if I’m back in Datong!

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed it. The owner and staff were very kind and helpful. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and brand new. The owner was even kind enough to give us a ride to the station. We highly recommend this guesthouse!
