The Oakwood Inn

There are multiple highlights, but I will start with the property itself. Gorgeous setting amid the trees and outdoor features. A gurgling waterfall/stream runs the length of the back of the Inn with lush landscaping. A delightful walkway takes you to a fire pit gathering area, or a spot to view the meadows beyond the trees. It's like being inside of a country French landscape painting. The whole property is pristine, inside and out. The bed was fabulously comfortable with (I peeked because I liked them so much) "Comphy" sheets which are "Developed for Spas, designed for Ahhs." Bed is built with pillow top mattress, thick mattress pad, double sheets, light feather duvet and light quilted coverlet. Incredibly comfortable. The room #301 has a king bedroom and separate living area and is at the top of the building. The balcony is totally private and feels like sitting in a treehouse with lots of bird friends flitting by including some beautiful gold and red finches, and many more. The air conditioning works very quickly and efficiently - heat rises and this is the top, yet it is very comfortable in the summer. The room is a haven of serenity: sage green walls, muted floral carpet, bright white trim, original artwork on the walls. There is a refrigerator and there are wine glasses and ice bucket. Cozy deep seated sofa and lounge chair as well as window seat. The bathroom is perfectly clean. I NEVER bathe in hotel tubs, but this one was so sparkling clean and inviting I indulged and used the fragrant bath bomb. Lovely. The bathroom mirror has a feature where you touch it and change the lighting to three different levels - I like the one that makes me look 10 year younger LOL! The towels seem like they are brand new - thick and gleaming white. The lighting in the room can be dimmed. There are Keurig machines in the hallway - don your luxury spa robe and grab an early coffee for the room. We dined in the common area dining room which is very tranquil and also cheerful. The food and service were first rate. I loved that we started with "dessert" of bananas foster/scones. Like a visit to Grandmas! There is more to say, but find out for yourself.

Excellent accommodations. Enjoyed the landscaped view from the deck. Breakfast was delicious. Hosts were very helpful and friendly. It is a beautiful, relaxing, well maintained home and is very convenient to the sites, activities, and restaurants in the area. Hope to enjoy the Inn again.

I could not have picked a better place to stay in Okoboji. We live in Iowa but wanted to go someplace a short distance away for a little get away for our anniversary. Everything about this bed and breakfast was excellent.. the breakfasts were superb. The Inn keeper gave you a choice if you wanted to eat in the dining room or she would bring breakfast to your room or if you needed To leave she would provide it in a take away box.. she was so accommodating.. The bed was oh so comfortable. She baked fresh chocolate chip cookies every day. Their landscaping looked like something out of a Better homes and garden Magazine.. We had a main floor king bed with Whirlpool suite with fireplace. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Oakwood Inn. The owners are great, staff is nice, beds are comfortable and the grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was always delicious and they are very accommodating with times and where you eat it. We liked that if we just wanted to relax, there was a nature trail nearby that we could walk each morning, a swing or lounge area in the yard to sit and read or rec room with pool table. There were plenty of snacks and drinks for free and her homemade cookies by the front door were delicious. If I would change anything it would be to put the TV directly in front of the bed instead of off to the side. Was hard to relax in bed and watch movies. That's a small thing compared to all the positives. We loved it and would recommend to everyone.

This was our 4th time at the Inn and we can't wait to come back already. The 3 days flew by and we both left feeling refreshed and spoiled. The cleanliness of the Inn and the rooms is impeccable. The made from scratch breakfasts are always 5 star and the service is so incredible. We can definitely see and feel why the Inn has won so many awards. Looking forward to many more visits!

Every detail was thought of and the hospitality was so comforting! It was peaceful and offered beautiful surroundings!! The breakfast was so delicious and we were able to chat with other guest! Walking distance to the trails, outdoor seating, outdoor fireplace, gazebo and a Billards room with beverages!!!
