Check-in was near normal, though the pre-payment I thought I'd made was for some reason not charged. I was told I would get a link to pay which seemed odd. My family was assigned room 1B. As soon as we were shown into the unit, the landlady threw open the window, which should have been a red flag. My daughter immediately noted that there was a gas smell. I assumed it would dissipate. We rested for a couple of hours before dinner. Our daughter spent the time in the loft, and she had symptoms of propane/natural gas poisoning (nausea, confusion, dizziness) when we left for dinner. As we sat at the restaurant in the fresh air, her symptoms abated. On return to the unit, the gas smell was quite strong. The window had been closed. We did not feel safe in the unit. At that hour the office was dark, and nobody was in there. To be honest, I would not have felt safe in any unit there at that point. We left to look for alternate accommodations, quite a task on a busy holiday weekend. We were ultimately successful. When we went back the next day to discuss the situation, the owners charged us for the stay and called us liars and thieves and threatened to turn us into the police. They were not the least bit interested in the potential hazard in their unit. FWIW the rooms are worn and dated and the WiFi coverage was terrible.
