This hotel markets itself as a 4-star property, but guests should lower their expectations. The facilities are dated—not in a charming, historic way, but simply old and tired. The dining experience was poor. Breakfast was uninspired, and lunch was a one-time attempt—we couldn’t get past the limited selection or the fact that food was sitting out under a lot of flies. We avoided all other meals on-site after that. Service is minimal. There’s no bell desk to aid with luggage, and the front desk isn’t staffed 24/7. Once housekeeping leaves for the day you’re essentially on your own—any requests after that point are unlikely to be fulfilled. We attempted to check out after the first night of a four-night stay due to our disappointment. When we called (we were not on property at the moment) and asked for a manager to call us back, we were told we’d need to come down in person because “calling an American number is expensive”—another example of the hotel’s nickel-and-dime approach. When we finally did shared our feedback, we were met not with understanding or concern, but with defensiveness and confrontation. Staffing is sparse. Don’t expect towels at the pool or lake—you’ll need to bring your own from the room. This might be a “generational” hotel that once had its time, but if you’re used to American 4-star standards, this is more of a 3-star property at best. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

Glorious setting overlooking Lake Fuschl, waking up every morning to the view. Room was large, comfortable and clean ( missed a coffee machine though). The resort is quite large and takes a while to find your way around. Despite the size staff were always friendly and helpful. Spa area is excellent as are the pools. Lots of places to sit scattered around the grounds. Small beach area is nice (and seeing how busy the lake gets at weekends with good weather nice to have this private area), also good having the SUPs, canoes and rowing boats. The lake is clean and good for swimming. Enjoyed the food. Plentiful breakfast and then the lunch/tea selection. Dinner is 5 courses (6 if you have cheese). On the whole good, but somewhat erratic in quality and combination of ingredients. Soups were particularly weak. Felt as if chef was still experimenting. Hopefully the kitchen will find its way and elevate the food to the level the hotel deserves. Nice to be able to eat on the terrace, though the individual dining rooms were cosy. Nice walk (11km) round the lake. Really easy to take the bus into Salzburg, 40 mins into the centre. And with the travel card, free! Relaxing stay, fantastic location. Would return.

Had a magical stay. Scenery is breathtaking and the hotel facilities were first class. I will never forget relaxing in the spa surrounded by snowcapped mountains

I never write reviews, but I have to for this facility. I booked a 4 night stay and left after the 1st night. The hotel does not follow its non-smoking policy. Guests smoke cigarettes on their balcony and the smoke infiltrates your room. When I went to complain, the manager refused to speak with me and when I highlighted that there is an advertised on the website and absolute restriction on smoking, the reply was "smoking is permitted in Austria". I ended up leaving after not sleeping a whole night. I have no idea how this facility can market itself as a 4 star wellness facility.

This hotel is everything you expect from a well established family run Austrian lake side retreat. The protocol of its day to day running is well established and sound, removing the irritations that often come with a newer or badly managed establishment. The staff are well trained and informative. The food offerings are plentiful but not lavish or luxurious. I’ve been to other Austrian hotels where for example, the cold meats and breads at the buffet are of better quality and more abundant. More varieties of fruits and vegetables offered at the juice bar etc. This didn’t detract from the enjoyment for me personally but I mentally noted it and another guest who had been coming to the hotel for many years did say that the quality and quantity of F and B ‘wasn’t what it used to be’. Despite this I still enjoyed it and I am sure the hotel are doing its very best to make it work in a market that is probably more challenging of late in the face of rising costs and local staff shortages. Sometimes I felt like there was a rather meagre and ungenerous edge to some of the services eg charging 1.5 euros for a carafe of tap water at the table (when you didn’t order alcohol/wine), and the buffet choices mentioned above, hence my 4 rather than 5 star rating, however I would definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to others. I appreciated the positive environmental efforts the hotel are going to; a rather officious towel policy (well managed and not onerous) and the avoidance of plastic use. Excellent job. The rooms are super comfy and function well (if you want marble and brand new bathrooms and fixtures, don’t stay in this kind of hotel). The housekeeping is top notch. The spa services and facilities on offer are great. The massage I had was lovely. The staff are super lovely. The price is fair. I really enjoyed my time here. PS we upgraded our room mid stay. The reception assured us it would be an easy and seamless move, all done for us however it wasn’t at all. The porter who came refused to do it for us even though we had been told to the contrary. After throwing our things into a case at top speed we felt rather misled and when I raised it subsequently no one came to explain or apologise. Not a big thing but definitely an easy fix for the hotel - I guess things sometimes get missed or mis communicated.
