Hochfirst Luxury Mountain Resort

Really great stay at the Hochfirst for a week in January for my husbands birthday. Despite poor weather we really enjoyed our time at the hotel. We were very well looked after throughout our stay. The food was excellent with 6 course dinner but with plenty of options. The cheese buffet was outstanding. Breakfasts were fabulous. The spa area and pools are fantastic. Lots of beds around the pool and a quieter area on the lower floor. The only slight problem was that guests leave their towels on the beds when they left the spa so it appears beds are occupied when they are not these should be cleared away by staff. Loved the skiing to the door - literally took our skis off next to the ski room lift! A special mention to Donatella who went above and beyond in the restaurant she was friendly, professional and attentive and nothing was too much trouble . Also a shout out to Clara for keeping our room super clean. Think the charge of 4 euros for tap water in the restaurant was a little unnecessary. But would definitely recommend and would definitely return when next in Obergurgl.

The friendliness of the personel unfortunately couldn’t avoid this 3 star review. With A hotel at this level a guest has the right to demand perfection. And even when something goes wrong the offered solution should comply with the level of quality A hotel like HOCHFIRST claims to offer. Our reservation at the Spa which was arranged as A surprise for my wife and daughter two weeks before arrival went completely wrong. No worries, because these kind of things can happen and aren’t too difficult to resolve, right? Well, this hotel succeeded in making us feel completely unimportant by first ignoring us the three days after this incident, and then offering a cheap and unelegant solution (ignoring my daughter) that almost felt like an insult. I felt ashamed to be confronted with such a situation and expressed this on several occassions during our stay. They did nothing with it, went on smiling as if nothing happened and ignored the complaint completely. After returning home I received an e-mail appologising for the late reply (again) and asking me if I would appreciate A phone call from the director. You know what I would have appreciated? The director had A whole week during our stay to talk to me, but chose to call me AFTER we checked out and returned home. That phone call was purely meant as damage control to avoid me from writing A review like this. Dear HOCHFIRST management; please learn to take guests seriously, or at least give them the feeling they are been taken serious. It would have been a pleasure to write how friendly Daniele and Anji and herr Oliver welcomed us in the restaurant, but not being taken serious and being ignored has put A shadow over this. A missed chance for HOCHFIRST. And two more things: the orange juice is being presented as fresh but definitely doesn’t taste like that. And the sauna is textile free for hygiëne reasons while at the swimming pool upstairs NOT ONE GUEST takes A shower before entering the pool (A sign is also missing) so this definitely needs improvement. If you are willing to pay A premium price for A premium hotel and don’t mind details as described above, then hochfirst might surely Be your choice.

This has been by far the best skiing experience in our lives. The owners of Hoch First Hotel went out of their way to assure excellent service, attention to detail, as well as elegance of the interiors. The entire personnel, including the front desk as well as drivers of the shuttle, servers, sommelier, restaurant managers, janitorial staff, and ultimately the chef who even treated us to a stuffed turkey Thanksgiving dinner did an excellent job making us feel like at home. The indoor outdoor heated pool and wellness area were absolutely amazing. The ski-in and ski-out experience could not have been any better. We highly recommend this hotel experience and will definitely return in the future.

We stayed at this hotel earlier in the year on our first ski trip to Austria. We have stayed in many five star hotels all round the world and I can honestly say this is by far the best service at a hotel we have ever received. The staff are so friendly & go above and beyond to make your stay perfect (especially Marcus in the restaurant who was outstanding …thank you). The hotel facilities are 10/10 (lovely spa), the location is 10/10 (ski in ski out) the rooms are kept lovely and clean & have everything you need. The food at breakfast and dinner was amazing, so much choice with varying menus. They were so accommodating as I’m gluten-free and I had more choice than at any restaurant I’ve ever been too. I’m not sure what else I can say apart from you will not be disappointed if you stay here. I can’t recommend it highly enough. We will be going back next year.

This is an exceptional hotel where the staff address you by name and attend to your every desire. A truly magical winter place, perfect for a relaxed winter holiday. We stayed as a family of four and were well looked after. Every need was catered for. The food was delicious, the pool superb and the setting just on the piste - perfect.

I don’t even know where to start to explain how outstanding this hotel is. This was our first time skiing in Austria and we will be back again next year to this hotel. I will recommend it to all our friends and to my travel agent community. This is by far the best ski hotel we have ever stayed in and probably the best service we have ever received from any hotel in the world. On arrival the staff were extremely friendly and super helpful. Check in was very quick & easy. Our room was lovely, spacious and exceeded our expectations. The facilities at the hotel are 6* and everything is immaculate and always clean. The decor is modern with an alpine feel and oozes luxury. Decorated beautifully for Easter too. The spa is amazing and has so many different things to offer including massaging water beds, infra-red sauna as well as all the usual spa facilities. It’s ski in ski out (you only have to walk a few steps to get your skis on). The ski rental shop the hotel recommended was super efficient and delivered us and our skis back to the hotel to a very organised & spacious boot room. The bar and restaurant are luxurious. Both the choice and quality of the food for breakfast and dinner was unbelievable. The personal service from Marcus in the restaurant was exceptional and he saw to it that my dietary/allergy needs were met and I did not want for anything there was so much choice. He went above & beyond as did the chef who personally came to see me and cooked me the most delicious gluten free pancakes. Everything about this hotel is 6* I could not fault a single thing. I highly recommend it. Book it you won’t be disappointed. I just wish we had discovered it before now.
