This hotel sits amongst a very old part of France and gazes over a 11th to 12th Century Abbey which is stunningly beautiful. It is constructed in brick and the whole roof is supported by vast fat columns made of brick therefor each brick has been lovingly crafted to create the circular. This gives a feeling of solidity and assurance. Well it has been there for a very long time. It has a feeling of Holiness. This brick is echoed through the equisite labrinth of buildings that surrounds the Abbey. In which the hotel is an intrical part. The hotel greeting we received was warm and sincere. We had only decided to stay that morning but our enquiry was turned down , charmingly, they were full. So we made other arrangements. To our surprise the hotel called us, during the morning, to say they had a cancellation and were we still interested? So impressed by this almost unique courtesy we immediately agreed with thanks. We found our room to be just perfect with comfy beds and decorated with great taste and at 99 Euros unbelievable. We wandered around this Town which is surperbly maintained with other hotels enjoying the same brick finish which is gentle in colour. We went into dinner and again greeted most graciously. The Menu for us was just plain exciting and so was the food. Foie Gras, the best that I can remember. Then this was followed by Sole Meunier with the butter deliciously nutty. And we had a main course of an Entrecote steak. Cooked by and angel (?) Just in case one might think we were gourmands we has one for two through out! But not the Crepes Suzette too good to share. Throughout we drank excellent wine by the glass. The service was efficient and delightful. Breakfast served in our room was what we were coming to expect, everything fresh and delicious. Especially the scrambled eggs and real bacon and the coffee was so good we ordered more. We both came away with the intention of going back for a long weekend.
