Zostel Gokarna

This was the worst experience of our life . Me and my wife do a lot of driving holidays Starting with the access road leading to this place . There is no road and the last two kms is for tractors . And if you have gone in a car , you are dead . I have had my alloy wheel rim broken , which I discovered the next day while departing and it's going to cost me a bomb .luckily the zostel team introduced me to a mechanic who was a messiah for me . The road is apt for a 4WD .Next up was the cottage that we had booked . Dont get mesmerized by the photos which appear on the net . the room is a mess in reality . It's a glorified dharmashala. I am aware that one can't expect luxury in a zostel ( my daughter's warned me ) but one can at least expect hygiene and comfort . No stirrer for the tea cups. Broken cups , broken shelves , no wifi ( and then we discovered a router hidden behind the curtain ) - why were we not informed about the wifi and the password . And finally ..the beach is far far away and you will need to walk down about 100 ft to reach the sea .

The best part of the Zostel is the view no doubt. One can sit on the deck chairs and spend an entire day relaxing. We also loved the arrangement of daily activities like beach trek and evening beach volleyball. Even the Bollywood night arranged at the attached Mantra Cafe under Zostel was amazing. As for the rooms, we stayed in a private cottage. The prices were on the higher side due to long weekend. The rooms were neat and clean with a little patio with chairs and clothe hanger. There was a separate basin with a huge mirror and a clean bathroom. We loved our experience here and probably would go back again.

Stayed at Zostel Gokarna in October 2020 right after the lockdown opened. Drove to Gokarna from Pune. Reached the place at around 7. Checkin was fast and we were given dorms for our stay. The view from the dorms is truly mesmerizing and you can see the entire Gokarna beach coastline from there. The dorms were decent and the toilets were okay. But for the price its actually very good. They have seperate rooms as well for family and couples. They have a common area cum restaurant where you can socialise and have beers and chill. The food was decent in the restaurant. Service was okay. Overall a good place to go with friends for a couple of nights.
