Kelly was friendly enough at check in, but it was downhill from there. All following interactions were unpleasant, would even go so far as to say standoff-ish. It could have possibly because we were raising concerns regarding the standard of service or the nature of accommodation, or possibly even due to our ethnic background. The room was reasonably sized, TV was a bit on the smaller side, beds were ok, and location was close to Hamilton CBD. Unfortunately, the bathroom smelt like someone’s armpit, and there was no daily room service, “for an eco-friendly stay”. I feel that it was more due to limited resources with too much work as I noticed that there weren’t many staff. Thankfully we didn’t spend too much time in the room. On the first night, we got woken up at 3:00am by someone, who claimed that they “got the wrong room” when we opened the door. Shortly after apologising, our door was knocked on again, but this time, we ignored the knocks. This unexpected experience made us feel unsafe and nervous for the rest of our stay. As one can understand, we didn’t get back to sleep that evening, only passing out from exhaustion the second night. Kaine was quiet at check out, didn’t really say much or have any well wishes for us, which is unusual, as this is Basic Hospitality 101. Given the chance to visit Hamilton again, I would stay elsewhere.
