We spent 4 nights in the angels tin hut and loved it. It takes a lot for me to unwind, and it's normally a good few days into a holiday before I fully switch off, but it was a different story here. I felt a sense of peace almost immediately. Now, I have read all the various comments and reviews and can see that this concept and style of living can be a little like marmite. Some people relish it and embrace the simplicity, and for others, it's a step too far out of their comfort zones - no judgement here, it's horses for courses. We loved the privacy, being immersed in nature and the quirkiness, but, as has been mentioned by many, it is not everyone's cup of tea. If you want something different, a digital detox, a natural and authentic experience in nature, then you will love it as much as we have. Think wild camping but with a proper shelter and bed and just enough amenities to cover the basics that you need, all in a beautiful and serene setting. TIP - nature is nature. It is dirty at times, impacted by the weather, uneven and asymmetrical, animal friendly and sometimes smelly. Don't expect it to have been sanitised! PS it was my first time pooing on a compost toilet and I was a little nervous, but it was actually absolutley fine.

We had booked Granny’s Old Cottage. On arrival we were told off by Daphne for not having sent our arrival time (we had). We were then taken down an overgrown path to the cottage. It smelt dank and musty and there were visible signs of damp by the fireplace. The electrics from a lamp were tacked along a wall to be plugged in an adjoining room. The furniture was uncomfortable, there was no TV as shown in the photos, and it was dirty with the sink being….well, see the pictures. One of the doors was off it’s hinges, the flooring was ripped and moth eaten and it was £90/night. Don’t get me wrong, I am ok with shabby chic and have spent my life camping in various forms but this was not acceptable. We decided to leave. Daphne was not helpful at this point and sent an exchange of emails refusing any refund as she stated it was my fault I hadn’t liked it, I needed to have read the description more carefully and how do I explain other positive reviews? I only wanted to talk about my own experience. I contacted the website we had booked through (Quirkyaccom.com) and they intervened to get us a 50% refund. Luckily, we found somewhere else to stay which was lovely and we enjoyed our time in a beautiful part of the world.
