The Culloden Estate and Spa

A birthday treat trip away for 3 days in Belfast with a view to seeing the Giants Causeway amongst other things. The hotel is very impressive , a beautiful building that is matched on the inside with impeccable decoration of furniture and art . Rooms full of comfy armchairs gives a friendly relaxing feel to the hotel . The staff are courteous and helpful . Our room was very nice but a poor nights sleep due to a noisy pipe triggered the perfect response to move us to a better room with a Louth view . We couldn’t fault the food , we ate at the Cultra Inn and the Lough Bar and had breakfast each day in Vespers . It was all very good . We used the spa which provided a pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna amongst the other usual spa facilities. It wasn’t busy and was very relaxing. The grounds are beautiful as well , adorned with outside garden sculptures that are quite intriguing….especially the donkey head outside the window we sat at in Vespers . It wasn’t perfect but it did all the things it should do absolutely right . Well done and thank you for a lovely stay .

My recent stay at the Culloden Estate was nothing short of exceptional. Dinner at Vespers and breakfast the following morning were the best meals I have ever had in Northern Ireland, every dish was picture perfect and full of flavor! What stood out most was the staff. Every single person we encountered seemed genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly very well trained in hospitality. Can't wait to return!

We visited on Sunday for the Art + Soul Exhibition . We thoroughly enjoyed it ! Outdoor sculptures in the grounds and an extensive art exhibition throughout the hotel . Staff were welcoming and friendly .

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was as advertised and comfortable. The bed was so large and spotlessly clean. Turning down the bed at night was a nice touch however we were not informed on arrival and also it was done on one evening when we were not presence. I was disappointed that the bar had my favourite drink on the first night but had not got it on my second night. Daily housekeeping of fresh towels was lovely. If the bath robes could be cotton based as the soft polyester ones are too static to wear around.

As always il give a blunt and honest review of the hotel. Stayed with my wife in room 304. Let's get the glaring problem out of the way to begin with so I can wax lyrical about how good the hotel is. We stayed in room 304, the room on first glanced looked great but when we went into the bathroom we seen the bath was full of dirt and hair. The previous occupant has clearly had a bath and shaved and the bath was covered in dirt and shaved hair from god knows where. In a 5 star hotel of this standard this was disgusting. Im not talking about a stray hair which could have been overlooked, im saying the bair was COVERED in hair and dirt. It made think about what else had been overlooked and I checked the sheets ect (they were spotless) but this is something I shouldn't have to do. The room also had a mould patch on the ceiling. You expect FAR better from the culloden. We were pretty busy, didnt need to use the bath so we didnt ring reception to get the issues sorted, im sure that they would have sorted it but it shouldn't of happened in the first place. We brought it to the attention of the receptionist at check out and he was friendly enough but brushed it off and seemed just happy to get us checked out make the problem disappear rather than address it. Now time thats out of the way lets talk about the positives and there are a magnitude of them! The hotel itself is STUNNING! meticulously maintained and everything you would expect. Food. Food is stunning in EVERY dining area available, the lounge bar is comfortable and peaceful. The cultra inn again was brilliant and the breakfast in vespers was the best breakfast in any hotel ive been to in this country and ive been to A LOT. 10/10. Spa. Again the spa was top notch! Everything you would expect from a top class hotel and more. Relaxing, well maintained and service impeccable. Staff. This is where the hotel stands alone in comparison to other 5 star hotels in the country. Every single staff member I spoke to or interacted with during my stay was at the top of their game, they all seem to own a sense of responsibility to uphold the standards of the establishment and it shines through in their service. Special mention to hugh (the concierge), whatever you are paying the man, pay him double. He is worth his weight in gold and he goes above and beyond for the guests he takes great care of. Finishing up, 99% of this stay was superb! Exactly what you would want and expect and its a proper shame the issue with the bath and room happened as id have loved nothing more than to give this hotel a 100% positive review but I am looking forward to staying again and hopefully I can amend this review after my next stay which will be happening shortly.
