Port Lympne Mansion Hotel

Beautiful location. Treehouse size and look was great. Maintenance needed on accommodation during our stay - caused issues. Staff efficient and friendly. Animals great. Safari/encounter staff knowledgeable. Babydoll restaurant great food. Bear Lodge not great food at all. Golf buggies great fun. All soiled by payment cards being used for random items without our knowledge relating to around £400 which we hadn't purchased or authorised!! Not acceptable and very worrying. Still not sorted out now! Big big error by Guest Services.

Such a beautiful location, lots of animals to see and some of the most attentive and friendly staff I’ve ever met!

We stayed at Hog deer creek in a shepherds hut. Beautifully appointed, high quality linens, endless hot water, and views over the park that are breathtaking. The zoo itself is magical; each enclosure is huge giving every animal the choice to show themselves or not. If you prefer tiny zoos with animals in boxes, do not come here. If you can spend a day or ideally two days here, you can relax and see everything eventually. It is so big, there is plenty to see. My favourite thing was to take an early morning walk at 6am as the sun came up and not a soul was around. A lot of the animals looked at me very sleepily, it was delightful and such a rare chance to have the place almost to myself! Our young kids loved the dinosaur trail. We had dinner at Babydolls pizza restaurant - it is not cheap, but the high quality makes it more than worth it, and being able to hear bears or monkeys calling not far away means it’s not exactly pizza express!! The service was also very charming. This is our third family visit to Port lympne in six years, and our best ever. Well done to the whole team that run the park, this place deserves all the awards, we are so lucky to be able to visit it.

What a fantastic place to visit and stay. The food was excellent and the place was spotless. We will return and stay overnight again. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable and we will recommend to family and friends that have not already visited. We stayed in the hotel which we loved but all the other places available looked great as well.

Safari tour has been cut so no longer goes through grasslands passing free roaming giraffe, zebra and antelope. No longer passes the wild dogs. This means it is impossible to see many animals and only tracks fenced areas losing open safari appeal. No amazing panoramic views over wildlife. Instead it tracks the fence line most of which is easily seen in the walking route. We won’t be renewing our membership. Very disappointing as what made Port Lypne so unique and magical has been lost. I assume this is to cram in more tours as increasingly commercial. We were told in depth about accommodation options offer whereas in previous years guides discussed everything from rhino ivf to release efforts. Heartbreaking- my children used to be so inspired by conservation following these tours but no more.
