St Ronan's Hotel

The friendliest staff and the most comfy bed! My husband and I stayed here for a wee night away from the kiddies. Our first night away just the two of us in 15 years! We couldn't have asked for a more friendly welcome. A family run bar and hotel gives this place a home away from home feel. We were given many recommendations of things to do in the area of which we did two. Swam in a local Reservoir and eat at the Traquair Arms for our valentines meal. As other reviews have stated, it is in need of an upgrade but these kinds of things don't bother us. The shower worked well and the room was big enough to have our doggy come along too, we didn't need anything else. Many thanks for a lovely night away

Comfortable and clean bed. Friendly staff BUT Definitely in need of upgrading. Don’t plan on an early night as Room was very noisy as you could hear the customers as if they were in the room with you I didn’t take a Shower as it was quite horrible

This was a pleasant and comfortable stay but for the money you pay, there were a few dissapointments. Some aspects of the hotel are tired and could do with upgrading. There was nowhere to stand the kettle, as the power lead was short and the power points were away from suitable furniture. No cooked breakfast available, just continental...cereals, fruit etc. As a walker, a cooked brekfast would be a preferable start to the day.

We booked St Ronans hotel in November as part of a multiple destination itinerary supporting my walk across the Southern Upland Way. Booking was confirmed and deposits taken from our credit card. Reminders about our booking we’re received as recently as 4 days before arrival but, on arrival, we were told the room had been given to someone else despite the staff knowing we had a confirmed earlier booking. The hotel wanted to blame *********** when in fact it was the hotel itself that had cancelled the booking just on the morning of our arrival. No alternative accommodation was available within a 2 hour radius due to the mountain bike and piping events that weekend. My wife has Parkinson’s disease and was extremely tired and uncomfortable from the journey. I myself had been walking all day and just wanted to rest at the place we’d planned and booked. However, considering they were not honouring the confirmed booking and the impossibility of finding somewhere else to sleep, there was no acknowledgement of responsibility or the distress this situation caused us. I don’t feel I could trust this hotel in future and would advise anyone to avoid it.
