Welcome to our Happy Hytte in the North Carolina mountains! In Norway, where we have family, cabins are called hyttes (pronounced like hit-uh). We named our cabin to reflect both our heritage & the cozy cabin vibes for which the folks in Norway are known. Ideally situated in the southwestern corner of the state, to our south we are a stones throw from the areas of Blairsville & Blue Ridge, Georgia. To the west we are a short drive to Tennessee & the Cherokee National Forrest. Your activities itinerary can be as full as you can handle!We know that you want your trip to the mountains to be all about outdoor living, and we’ve got just the porch you’ve been searching for. Rock the day away on the front porch, relax on the side porch in the swing with a book, grill up dinner and eat inside or out, and then finish off the night around the campfire in our locally made Adirondack chairs or a soak in the hot tub. Our cabin is secluded without being isolated. You will lose cell coverage but our high speed internet will keep you connected! We have a lovely view of our community pond (where you can watch the deer come by for a drink as the sun sets), and a whole acre for the kids to run around. We even have a hiking trail that begins just at the end of our drive.Couples and friends are welcome, of course! But, we are set up for the needs of families like ours, just in case. After years of traveling to the mountains with kids we know what families need! Our primary suite is just right, with a Casper mattress in a proper queen size bed and your own en suite bath. The kids have run of the bunk room with two bunks (four twin beds!) that we’ve decorated to make them feel adventurous and a hall bath they can share. We’ve even brought a pack n play in case you’ve got a really little one. The deck has gates at both ends so that your kids or your pups can have the run of the deck without being able to run off entirely. We have our own porch dawg, and are happy to welcome yours without charging a pet fee.The kitchen is fully stocked, and not from 32 different yard sales! Cook, bake, or heat up leftovers from the pizzeria down the road (it’s pretty legit!) The road to the hytte is nicely paved, no gravel until you get to the driveway and no crazy hills to slide down while you try and find us in the dark. We even put up twinkle lights on the porch so you’ll know you’ve made it! It is a cabin with 2 master suites and 2 full baths, one on each side and a large living room with adjoining kitchen and dining room in the center of the house with a gas fireplace and a bar. High-speed fiber optic just hooked up, Dish Network on all 3 TV's. Dedicated work desk for working from "home." You can use your cell phone through the WiFi by just changing your phone settings to make and receive calls through the WiFi, which works like a charm for us if your carrier isn't as good in the mountains. Murphy is a wonderful mountain town nestled between Blue Ridge, Blairsville and Helen, GA which are all within 30 minutes to an hour away. You can even do Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, TN for a day trip and we are less than 20 minutes from where the Tennessee and Georgia state lines meet at the quaint shopping and dining village on the Toccoa River where you can cross from Copperhill, TN into McCayesville, GA within a few steps on Bridge St. We are also within 20 minutes of Harrah's Valley River Casino, and too many Appalachian hiking trails and rafting locations to list. There are many lakes surrounding the area and nature abounds with deer coming out to graze in the grass and say welcome to Murphy! After a fun day you can sit around the fire pit and enjoy a bottle of complimentary wine from our bar. Please limit it to only ONE bottle, so future guests can also enjoy a bottle as well. We don't allow cats and there is a maximum of two dogs that are NOT allowed on the furniture or beds or there will be a charge placed against your insurance policy due to added cleaning time. Because of insurance restrictions, the following dogs are not allowed: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Husky (including Siberian breeds), Malamute, Doberman Pinscher, Chow Chow, or any Wolf-dog hybrid. We provide poopy bags and there are dog dishes in the laundry area. Please clean up after your pet and use a leash in the neighborhood since some of the owners also have dogs as well. Also, this is a quiet mountain neighborhood, so if you have dogs that bark a lot, this is not the cabin for you since there are others who live and/or rent in this neighborhood who come here to enjoy the peace and tranquility of sitting on their porch and not have barking dogs disrupt their quiet time. If you have dogs that bark a lot, please choose another rental as I am sure you would also like to be able to sit on the porch and enjoy the peace and quiet yourselves. Dogs should not be left unattended on the porch to bark all day while you are out and about. The neighbors will complain. Thank you for understanding and being respectful of others. Also, do not leave them inside unattended for an extended period of time. Please bring a crate if the dog is a puppy or chews on things. Any damage will be charged against your insurance policy, which is required to rent the cabin.
