The food is sooooo delicious. I really like the bar.

A very warm welcome from Lorna and the team at the Port Charlotte Hotel. We were visiting as a group on a private tour for lunch and were very looked after. Lorna personally welcomes everyone and ensures that everyone has everything they need- nothing is too much trouble. She is engaging and funny and makes everyone feel at home. Her team did a great job serving a delicious lunch and offering some traditional Scottish hospitality. I look forward to coming back again soon. Specific mention to the outstanding sticky toffee pudding!

We stopped in for a coffee and stayed for a few hours in the end. Sitting in the lounge looking out at the amazing view, we played games as we tucked into some delicious shortbread. We hadn’t planned to stay for long but the kids ended up having a lovely homemade lunch to keep them going. The staff were very friendly and the manager Lorna was so hospitable, world class service.

The village of Port Charlotte is far from the relatively bustling Bowmore, thereby making it a hotel destination for an ideal boutique experience. The proprietor Isabelle has a knack for the personalized experience, so your time in the hotel feels like a homecoming. The kitchen is fabulous, much better than perhaps necessary, and the atmosphere around the deep whisky bar is worth spending a few drams a night around. I couldn’t have hoped for a finer Islay lodging.

Stayed for one night while over on the island with work, and this excellent hotel comes highly recommended. The rooms are warm & comfortable with great sea views. The staff are friendly & welcoming and the food is top class. We had dinner in the bar and breakfast and everything was fresh, tasty and top quality. This is the place to stay if you are visiting Islay.

Had an amazing stay at the Port Charlotte hotel with my family. The team at the hotel are lovely and made us all feel really welcome. The whole island is beautiful, but we loved going down to the little beach by the hotel and seeing the sun rise in the morning and then back inside for a wonderful breakfast. The hotel has a small bar with frequented by guests and locals, the atmosphere was really nice and the food was amazing. I just wish we had more time to do the whiskey selection more justice. We were already planning our return before we left. Thanks to Moira and everyone in the port Charlotte hotel team for making our stay so special.

The staff were awesome and so helpful. Giving us excellent recommendations and introducing us to locals that expanded our experience.

All of the staff were excellent, friendly, welcoming and if asked, gave a lot of advice on places to go and see, and what whisky to try. The food was the star of the show, breakfast lunch and dinner, nothing disappointed. Would have loved to have been in the bar if there was some live music on, next time hopefully. Bar, lounge and restaurant were all lovely areas. The room had everything we needed. They did allow us to bring our dog.

We could not have found a better destination for our honeymoon in Scotland than the Isle of Islay and the Port Charlotte Hotel. Isabelle, Gary, Lorna & David and the rest of the crew at Port Charlotte Hotel made our stay there the stuff of dreams. While the front of the house was warm, caring and personable, the back of the house delivered the best culinary cuisine experience in all of Scotland. The elegant menu was paired with a remarkable wine list and the cozy bar scene was more enjoyable and friendly than any other in Scotland. Everyone treated us like family. Isabelle created a complete vacation package for us that included a driver (the most knowledgable guide on the island, Stuart) and tours of five distilleries, including amazing points of interest like the Ballinaby Standing Stone, the Finlaggan ruins and Mr. Gordon's incredible woolen mill. It was a scotch lovers paradise but beyond the distilleries, scenery and history - it was the people of Islay and the staff at Port Charlotte Hotel that made our brief stay an everlasting memory. We had a great stay. The restaurant and bar were excellent. The food was very tasty and I think reasonably priced for what we got. The bar was well stocked as you would imagine. The breakfast was great. Would stay here again. Close to some distilleries.

We had a delicious lunchtime meal and a good bit of banter with the staff! Although busy, and we had arrived without booking a table, we were made very welcome. Next time we visit maybe we will look to stay here!

I have to echo the last reviewer, Shalom and Lorna were the best. Best of luck Shalom in your education, you're going to do great things! Lorna made us feel like family. Great food and location. Hope to be back.

Wow - what a great place. Went went on the hotel organised distillery tour, with dinner bed and breakfast in the package. Isobel and the team have created a great place to stay, eat and drink - our stay over 5 nights was faultless apart from one glitch with a breakfast. Our room was comfy with great rooms, the food was delicious with enough to choose from for our stay. All the staff without exception were brilliant, all knowledgeable about Islay, all helpful without exception. Our stay was so good, it would be unfair to pick out individuals. The bar is excellent and the range of whisky is superb, and the knowledge of the team to make recommendations is astounding. Thank you to the team for making our holiday memorable for all the right reasons - we will be back, and we recommend it to anyone considering staying here.
