Caravel Hotel Apartments

So, going against the grain a bit and disagreeing with some of these reviews. I will say yes, the staff are friendly and helpful and can't fault them. However, a few points I would like to mention from our experience. It was clean, sheets etc and towels. But the hotel itself is dated and grubby with age. The shower had screws sticking out the wall and the way the shower was, it was an awkward space where you had to stand on the protruding plug and I kept bumping into the tap turning it off (I am a 5ft 2in petite female) which was frustrating. The's also a discolored rubber anti slip bath mat from the 80s? That I would never stand on because it looked awful. Some of the other guests were very loud and there for lads parties. They held up the pool area drinking beers and Smirnoff ice from the shop. They got loud before they went out and came back in the early hours causing a racket. I think we were given a room between two groups as we could hear them going back and forward knocking on each other's doors. When we checked in, we were told to hand the key into reception when we left.to go out for the day, I did not like that one bit. I have never been asked that before and would love to know the reason why. Is it because you don't trust guests to look after the keys, are we safe? It gave me a bad feeling. I have been in many budget hotels in Greece and some of the rough edges are totally fine but I think the combination of things just made me uncomfortable. Location is fine, it did however take us a while to find sun beds that didn't belong to a large hotel, I liked the beach itself. The resort itself is okay,not too big and enough choices of food and if you wanted to avoid or utilise the sports bar scene you can. Breakfast was standard. Reception and waiting area was nice. I didn't use the pool.

Just stayed here as part of a wing foiling (kite surfing) week in Ixia. The accommodation was sorted by the kite guys and it way exceeded my expectations. The owner and all her staff are extremely friendly (like all the people we met in Rhodes). The hotel is super clean and the pool area a nice respite from the beach at the end of the day as it’s positioned perfectly for the late afternoon sun. We were able to have the breakfast in the Coconut (5*) restaurant each morning which was super convenient but our rooms were like small apartments with fridge, cookers, microwave and kitchen table for 4. So we could have been happily self sufficient too. We will stay here again on our next visit without hesitation. Thanks for having us.

Very nice room/apartment, we lived next to the pool with a big space as our terrace. Good windows and doors with curtains to make it dark and netdoors that you can slide to get air in and keep the bugs out at night. Room was kept clean every day. Good bathroom and enough of a kitchen to get by. The hosts are so compassionate and really care for you. Very nice people that we will miss now when we go home. Great that you can leave the key when you go outside so you dont have to worry about it. Two good pillows each that are big. Blankets are available in the closet if you get cold. Would recommend this place for everyone, couples, families, going alone. Close to restaurants, shops, bus stop, taxi station, car rental, 4km to Rhodos town.
