The first impression is what counts. We arrived late in the evening, tired from the journey. We had booked two rooms: one priority sea view and one with a partial sea view. Instead, we were assigned two almost adjacent rooms with the same view and facing the terrace, where live music and entertainment went on until 10:30/11:00 PM. In the months leading up to our stay, I had called twice to confirm that the rooms would be located in a quiet area of the resort. The next morning, I requested a change for the priority sea view room and the partial sea view room to a quieter area of the resort, in line with what we had purchased. We lost the entire morning arranging this change, unable to settle in properly, with our suitcases half unpacked. The priority sea view room was indeed replaced with one matching the description, but the partial sea view room was swapped for one overlooking plants and a parking lot. At that point, to avoid wasting the whole day, I accepted this change but asked for a partial refund or an upgrade to all-inclusive (we had booked half-board) for the partial sea view room. After several refusals and negotiations, I wasn’t granted a refund for the room that now overlooked plants and a parking lot but was instead offered an upgrade to all-inclusive. It was still very disappointing to lose hours of vacation and have to fight for the treatment we expected, hoped for, and paid for. The property is clean, albeit a bit dated. The rooms are cleaned according to staff availability. For three out of seven days, my room wasn’t cleaned because I was resting in the afternoon, and housekeeping arrived during that time. The spa is nice, but I expected the water in the indoor pool to be warm—it wasn’t. The buffet is excellent. However, the evening entertainment in the theater is of very low quality, except for one night, which stood out for its acrobatic performances. The staff hardly speaks any English, making communication almost impossible. I’ve stayed at many 5-star hotels around the world. This is a good resort, but it has nothing in common with a true 5-star standard. It’s a shame because sometimes it takes very little to respond effectively to an issue and leave the customer with a completely different experience. If I had paid half the price I actually paid, I might have been satisfied. As it is, no, I wouldn’t return. This was my third time in Fuerteventura, an island I love for its winter climate and landscapes. I’ve stayed in two other 4-star resorts in the south of the island, and in terms of value for money, they are far superior to this property. In summary, I will not return.
