I have stayed at the Humura Resorts several times and there is so much to like about it despite the obvious shortcomings. The staff are super helpful and very friendly, the rooms are comfortable and quiet, I have always managed to sleep well whenever I have stayed here, it is a real oasis in the chaos that is central Kampala. The pool is a wonderful treat and the best part about the hotel, is the fantastic decor and art in all of the rooms and all around the hotel, local artists and crafts bought from the nearby market, The location is fantastic, with several decent restaurants within waking distance including the previously mentioned craft market (30 minutes along quiet streets). They really need to sort out the food and drink situation, the food in the restaurant is pretty basic and the bar is non-existent. Breakfast, is okay, although the last couple of times, it was a buffet, which would be fine but how much extra effort would it be to offer fresh cooked aggs? The place does need a bit of TLC, but the charm of the place, with its colonial style, coupled with the stunning art pieces and welcoming staff, more than make up for any short comings.
