Grecotel La Riviera at Riviera Olympia & Aqua Park

Old, rusty, dirty, deserted, needs a serious refurbishment. Buffet room has a daily strong smell, bees everywhere during breakfast, swimming pool has rusty tiles, sunbeds dirty and used, bedroom and pool towels stained! Room cupboard not opening, kids room charged as a second bedroom but in truth is just an extension in the internal corridor of the hotel with no window !DISSAPOINTED!!!note: friendly staff

99% of our holiday at this hotel deserves 5 stars and the very best review. Unfortunately, we had an experience which we feel must be shared and prevents us giving 5 stars. At the end of our stay, we found out that one of the hotel staff (cleaning maid) had been regularly stealing money from our room. This same person was caught spitting on the bathroom floor and opening our drawers, searching for valuables, picking through our children's belongings. After reporting our concerns, the hotel told us nothing could be done by the hotel and we caught the same maid accessing our room again afterwards. We felt the hotel wanted to ignore and cover up the incident, and didn't recognise the severity of having a thief within their staff who was stealing from hotel guests. Despite several attempts, we have been unable to get a response from Grecotel HQ. Whilst this is an excellent hotel, with mostly amazing staff and we have great memories, this one experience means we must urge any potential guests to not take the risk of staying here and book elsewhere.

We have spent a week with family and we couldn’t expect anything more. The rooms are excellent, spacious and modern, the restaurants are fabulous and the personnel is extremely kind and helpful. The seaside is generous and the aqua park is the big hit for children and not only!!! Grecoland also is a great hit for children! We have had a fantastic experience at the Asian restaurant and we have appreciated the fine cuisine of Mandola Rosa! As we have visited many times this resort, we would like to express an our gratitude, as every time the personnel goes well beyond our expectations in order to make us feel like home! Great hospitality, unforgettable memorise. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at the hotel with our family of four and it was brilliant. Service was excellent, food was very good and the location and layout was perfect. There were only a couple of things we would change, we would like a slightly bigger room next time. We had a Superior Family Room Balcony/Terrace Sea View and we found it a bit small for all of us. We also found the bed very uncomfortable and didn’t get very much sleep while we were there. The other thing we thought was naughty was the €3.40 charge for a medium bottle of water with dinner. Other than that we were delighted. We would highly recommend to others and come back again. Thank you for a lovely week.

We arrived in Patras, Greece already at 8 o'clock in the morning. I was worried that we would have to sit around and have to go eat somewhere. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the hotel staff, and I remember the welcome from the empathetic Chloe. The 5-star services of this hotel began with her. She informed us that our rooms were already ready (even though the manual said afternoon hours) and that we could go to the Sunset restaurant for breakfast (more on that later). The staff tagged our luggage and brought it to our rooms. We traveled as a family of 4 + 2 pensioners. Rooms (1202 and 1230) were clean rooms with free water for the first day, close to the reception and restaurant. Our room was in the "Superior" - children had 2 single beds in the front of the room and the parents had a large double bed further down the room. The mattresses for children were rather harder, the double bed had a softer mattress. The interior seemed to me to be rather new, clean white walls. Good storage space, hangers, safe..higher standard. The balcony door led to the terrace, where there was a sitting area and in our case a large lawn (see photo) - a great playground for children. As soon as we checked in, we went to have breakfast at the Sunset restaurant. This hotel restaurant is spacious and leads to a terrace with parasols. The dishes, their selection, quantity, processing, serving (in the form of self-service), temperature and quality were of a high standard. Some dishes were of a culinary level. Our family was made up of people with different tastes and no one complained, but praised it. Many of the dishes are prepared using the "live cooking" method. A few times I also saw chilled wine as part of breakfast. Drinks at dinner were charged, due to the fact that everyone has different requirements. The most important thing was that we never had to wait for service, the restaurant is well managed. The staff is very friendly and communicative. The good service coverage continued to the pools and the beach, where there were other snack bars. There were toilets and showers on the beach to wash off the sand on your feet. You could commute from the beach to the pools and vice versa all day. The beach is spacious and even if the hotel is full, there will be enough sunbeds and space. You have lifeguards with first aid kits on the beach and at the pools, which is great especially if your child falls and scrapes their knee. The sea was already warmer in june, but still refreshing. Every early morning, a tractor came and cleaned the beach of any accumulated algae. The entrance to the sea is great for small children - you could even go 30 meters into the sea. The sea and the beach were very clean (blue flag beach). The various pools were for babies, non-swimmers and swimmers. I would see the infinity pool as ideal for a morning swim. We had again an excellent stay and service in a magical environment.We are always returning in Riviera every year for ten years in a row.Beautiful sandy beach with crystal water,many swimming pools,parks and nice establishments.Great people (Maria,Chara at guest relation are top,Roula at the main restaurant and so many others I don’t remember their names,are all super polite and helpful all the time)great service and at least but not last,the best chef Mr Fotopoulos and his team made the big difference at the main restaurant this year.Great food experience!!!!I highly recommend…..See you next year with great pleasure….
