Station Hotel

Overall the place wasn’t completely terrible. However, upon arrival the front door was locked and nobody was at reception, we couldn’t even make it into the building before issues started to occur. We phoned the number that’s written on the front door and a lady answered and said there is a lock box on the side of the door, gave us a code and that would let us in. The code did not work and she said “if the code is not working i’m unable to help you any further”, and then she hung up. We kept trying the code and eventually got in which took us about 20 minutes. There was no one at reception, we had no idea what room we was in, had to call yet another number to find out what room we was in. The lady on the phone said there was a code to the door and told us it over the phone which let us into our room. We were in room 10 under the stairs.  The bed was okay, nothing special. However the skirting boards where falling apart and there was bits of the wall all over the floor. The bathroom door did not close, it physically did not fit the frame in the wall. There was 1 toilet roll which was paper thin, and there were 2 of us in the room. Also the shower floor was stained with what looked to be tried blood, and was “hidden” by a clear shower mat.  The worst part of all, me and my friend came back from clubbing around 3am, we got into our room and there was a man standing outside our window (we were on the ground floor), he was banging and pounding for about 5 minutes. We had the curtains shut and were sat on the floor away from the window so he couldn’t see us. However the bathroom window was wide open and he was trying to talk to us through that. We tried to phone and get hold of someone from reception but of course there was no answer. If i was you, i would avoid this place if you can. It gave us somewhere to stay for the night but i certainly won’t be attending again.

It's a decent stay, very functional and no hassle. Everything you'd expect for the price so no reason to complain. Very clean, location is great and close to everything. Definitely am going to stay again.

The hotel is a short walk from the railway and within easy access to the Cathedral and city centre. I stayed there for 2 nights. In the 1st night, the bathroom light was out of order as there was no one in the hotel to take care of it. Nothing was done in the following morning, and the only thing to be done is to change the room in the afternoon. The hotel looks tired and needs some touching up, yet the rooms are spacious, functional and clean, and the bed is comfortable. There is an issue with dampness in walls though it is not too serious. If you look for a budget place to sleep at night, this is the place for you.

Virtually uninhabitable cheap and nasty, dirty and no one working there. Had to call a remote person who was looking after 5 different hotels. There were bloody hand prints on the walls and the pillowcases were different colours and dirty. The clientelle, although polite did not inspire confidence in ones personal or property security. Priceline sold me this hotel room and are making it very difficult to get my money back - there needs to be a return to proper access to proper customer service where foreign companies have to have contactable office in the countrys they operate in. Avoid this hotel and PriceLine I have used Priceline many times and while things have gone ok its appears ok but you really get to know how good a company is when things go wrong and they are very poor.

On arrival a little later in the evening I found i couldn't get in, I rang the number that I was given on the booking and it went to answer phone where you couldn't leave a message because the box was full. I rang the door bell and a man let me in, he was a guest not staff member. He told me my room number and that the room would probably be unlocked and the key was in a drawer and my room was at the top of the building. Bare in mind I booked a family room, if I had a child in a pushchair I would never of got them up the stairs. I walked up all the stairs and couldn't get in, I then walked back down and answered the door to another guest. He was on the phone to the people who owned the hotel, after speaking to them he gave me his phone to talk to the owner. I was told of a different number to ring by the guest so rang them back. I had to walk all the way back upstairs and put in a code on the door handle and got in room to find the front door key. I asked about parking because it said there was parking, there isn't, the road opposite is permit holder except 5 spaces that were filled so ended up paying £21 for parking in a multistory carpark. Room wasn't a bad size and overlooked the river, shower small but worked, given towels for 2 people and not 3. Outside of building is a bit dated and needs a lick of paint. The hotel is in a good location for the town and near the station and river but our experience of trying to get in etc and lack of parking let it down

Well where do I start. So parked down the road and went to reception. The stench of body odour what horrendous. The lest you expect is for the staff to wash occasionally, unfortunately that’s only the start, to check in they just took a photo on their phone of the booking, a bit strange but ok. Got in the room and yes it was cheap so wasn’t expecting much but I can genuinely say one of the worst rooms I’ve stoped in and I’m in the military, Stains on the carpet, what looks like a fire in the shower (see pics for more) a random bit of wall paper honestly the owners should be ashamed of themselves for even selling the rooms. Keep reading it gets worse. We went out for some food and when we went to leave I realised our room wouldn’t lock. After a few times of trying the inside door handle actually fell off. We rang the number at reception( because there isn’t any one on most of the time) they said they would ring the owner and get back to us. It’s now twenty to one in the morning and they still havnt rang us to say it sorted. Please please stay away from this hotel it might be cheap but you might as well sleep on the streets. Funnily enough we booked the premier inn and they knew exactly here we had come from before we said the name of it. Avoid. This place needs to go bust and be taken over by some one who cares.
