This was a horrible experience for my family and I. We were celebrating my father’s 60th birthday. On the phone days prior to arriving, the staff said they would do something special for him, but didn’t. It was sad to see that they were handing out happy birthday plates to guests celebrating their birthdays and just forgot about my father’s. They were reminded several times prior to our arrival and during our stay. Instead they placed my parents in a hotel room that was unbearable to breathe. It smelled like a dirty basement and the stale smell was in the fabric, the bedding, the pillows, the curtains. It even made their clothes wreak of that awful smell. We kindly let management know and they told my husband and I that they had no other rooms available. I asked the staff to go into the room my parents were staying in so they could smell the room for themselves and then miraculously they found another available room— one that smelled even worse. So we just had my parents stay with us in a one bed hotel room because the smell was giving everyone a headache. My husband and I slept on the small couch. The room we were residing in did not have batteries to the remote, there was sand everywhere including the bed, the shower, and the tub, our safe was busted, the refrigerator did not work, the room had a minor odor (but it was much more tolerable than my parent’s room), and no soap. The restaurants require reservations but everything was booked when we arrived.

I want to start off by saying that this resort is definitely for the elderly . Apart from that I feel like hotel staff cater more to those who aren’t of Hispanic decent . I experience multiple times during my time at the buffet that the employees would treat non Hispanics with so much love . For example take out chairs for them immediately ask them what they’d like to drink and just constantly keep tabs on them . While me and my friend were left there having to ask one of the employees how can we get a drink . And even after asking they’d try to get other people to serve us . It’s just ridiculous at this point . But yea

Overall this is a great place if you just want to hang by a pool all day drinking and don't care about food quality or beautiful carribean ocean views Pros: the staff were amazing, they all had awesome energy and were super friendly. The grounds at the property were very well maintained. The pools are also beautiful and laying by them all day is super relaxing. Cons: the alcohol selection was poor, all the food tasted the same after the 3rd day, the jacuzzi wasnt heated the entire 7 days we were there, the spa tub in the bathroom of the room was pretty nasty so I wouldn't dare take a bath, the beach wasn't great and definitely not for swimming, and the power kept going off multiple times throughout the day and night.

Service was excellent, food was very good. The sporting equipment was in very poor condition and lacked the appropriate quantities for the size of the two properties sharing the facilities. The 3 bicycles were old, rusted, damages, not functioning. That's right, 3 bicycles for approx 800 rooms for both resorts. 2 poor condition kayaks, 2 poor condition paddle boards, 2 sailboats - not nearly enough and not well maintained. The tennis courts and basketball court were in very poor condition and dirty.

My experience was very disappointing with this hotel. First of all the sea was surprisingly brown color and it explained why so little people spent time at the beach. The second day of arrival our toilet stopped flushing and started to leak so badly that I literally had a flood in the whole room. I had to wait for 15 min for plumbers to come over and fix the issue. I felt bad for the cleaning team that had to clean everything without proper equipment and do everything manually. The next day same problem happened, so when I came to the reception and asked if we can move to another room I was told that it might not resolve the issue because they have a this issue in the whole resort. To make the long story short, I wasn’t able to use the toilet for the whole week and had to go to public restrooms. The interesting past of that is that public restrooms began to be cleaned from 9-10am so you had to wait for the public restrooms to be cleaned in order to use them. In regards to entertainment, it became fun and good only after New Year. My whole point to go to Dominican Republic is to celebrate New Year ax but different and to have fun but to my big surprise the lobby and all the fun was literally finished by 11:30PM. I found it strange that the hotel had no New Year’s program or simple one hour celebration when people can have a glass of champagne and simple say Happy New Year and listen to some holiday music with some dancing and stuff. Beautiful grounds! Staff is amazing. Interior hallways had worn looking carpet etc. water pressure is poor. The room was lovely. Food was great.

We stayed six nights at Bahia Luxury Bouganville Dec-Jan 3. The grounds are beautifully manicured. We had a junior suite which had plenty of space, but there was an overwhelming smell of mold in the room which permeated everything. Even after cleaning, the room still had a strong mold smell. There were plenty of options for dining and I can't believe anyone could go hungry or run out of selections. e ate at the buffet only once and took advantage of the restaurants throughout the property. The pools were fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed them.

The staff was great! The food was very generic and getting reservations to the al A carte restaurants was difficult and in some cases impossible. It would have been nice to have a light lunch option. The property is beautiful
