Auberge du Mouton

First a few words about Porrentruy: a beautiful, very typical Swiss town. We had never visited the Jura but I must say a very beautiful Swiss region. The hotel, which is actually an “Auberge,” is located in a historic building and is part of the Swiss Historic Hotels chain. It’s located in historic downtown of Porrentruy. Be aware that the hotel does not have an elevator, which was not a problem for me but I mention this as a warning to those who have trouble in walking. Room on the top floor in an attic: spectacular felt like a trip back in time. Very comfortable room, a beautiful little terrace overlooking the rooftops of Porrentruy. Maybe for the summer, as there is no air conditioning, better a room on the lower floors. Excellent Swiss cosmetics products from Soeder in the bathroom. What is not good in the room is the bathroom. I understand that it is not easy to get it in an attic da but it was really a bit cramped (once seated on the WC the wall is really close to you!!) Breakfast very simple but with quality regional products. I want to give a big kudos to the very kind and friendly breakfast lady. Also try the restaurant, I had dinner, not a very large menu, but great quality food. Absolutely recommended for a stay in one of the most authentic regions of Switzerland!

4 heures de voyage en moto, 30 minutes sous la pluie. Arrivée à l’hôtel à 19h30 comme indiqué à ma réservation. On m’envoie attendre 15 minutes au 1er étage par ce que : je cite « c’est le service au restaurant qui est prioritaire » sic… Je reçois enfin les clés de la chambre et en profite pour demander une table au restaurant « c’est trop tard monsieur, allez manger à La Cigogne, c’est juste à côté » re sic… Chambre simple, sans prétention mais confortable et calme. Personnel très sympathique au petit déjeuner le lendemain (un peu frugal). Bref à ce niveau de tarif, c’est juste pas possible pour moi.

La camera era molto luminosa e spaziosa, con vista sulla cittadina, arredata in modo spartano, ciò che però per noi non era un problema. Ciò che invece ci ha infastidito é che la colazione non era a buffet ma occorreva chiedere ogni singola cosa che si desiderava, dal caffè al burro, al pane ecc. Il loro ristorante, che non ha certo prezzi "popolari", considerato che in teoria ha una menzione "gault millau" é decisamente sopravvalutato. La carne del piatto principale non era masticabile tanto era dura (ciò di cui un buon cuoco si sarebbe reso conto) e le porzioni erano veramente poco generose, per usare un eufemismo. Sconsiglio il ristorante, ma non l'albergo.
