My Bairro Alto Suites

The stay was OK, but I was treated so poorly upon my arrival. Upon inquiring about the property I had shared with the group that I was arriving at 6 am and they had let me know the property opens at 8. I called exactly at 8 AM after patiently waiting outside the property for 2 hours as they requested. Apparently, I woke up an angry man who was super annoyed that "I had rudely woken him up" he claimed to me that "Portugal is not awake at this hour" I had let him know that "I'm sorry but I was instructed to call at 8 AM" Anyways I told him that I'd hope to make it quick for him and that I'm pretty confident I'm in front of the building, but I am not 100% sure I'm in the right place and if he can confirm that the restaurant next the apartment is called Rosettas. He refused to answer. I couldn't understand why he couldn't answer me. It was almost as if he didn't know what was nearby the apartment but he yelled at me saying "CALL ME WHEN YOU GET THERE" I was like "Look, I'm here I just need a bit of guidance since I don't see any sign on the walls or anything." He then told me to look for a green door and I said "Ok got it. I found it." and then he yelled "ITS PORTUGAL MOST OF THE DOORS ARE GREEN." as if I had enough experience in Lisbon to know that (which later I realize is true but why did he suggest for me to look for a green door if he knew that Portugal has many green doors). The call was filled with just such bizarre moments that I thought I was being pranked. I couldn't tell if I wanted to cry or laugh, but I could tell you with certainty the person I spoke to was incredibly inconsiderate and rude. I'm realizing there is a very big difference in quality in actual 'homes' for rent on airbnb vs. ones that are a businesses. Putting all this aside, the streets of Portugal were extremely loud and the windows were thin so I could barely sleep the first night. The room was similar, but not identical to what was sold to me and the shower was so weird with lots of rusty parts.

Nice apartment, good center location. The host was responsive. The bar downstairs and the neighborhood was very noisy at night. It was not possible to sleep until very late into the night. It’s good for young people but not for a family with kids. The apartment and building itself needs a good sound insulation between apartments and floors.

We only stayed there 1 night because my wife and I got bitten by bed bugs. It has been a very bad experience even if the apartment was clean and well located, it’s almost a week that we can’t sleep properly and even expose ourself on the sun because of the bites (around 50/60 bites only on my wife). This is the worst experience you can have with a stay. It will stay in your mind for a while... I do recommend to verify with people managing property to confirm the treatment and mostly prouve you that it has been done before stay in the apartment 3... Unfortunate but extremely désagréable for us. Minimum, we got our money back...

Wir fassen kurz zusammen. Lissabon ist eine tolle Stadt und sehr sehenswert , unsere Unterkunft hat uns den Aufenthalt etwas madig gemacht. Unser erster Eindruck vom Zimmer war leider wirklich schmuddlig und dreckig, sodass man sich einfach nicht wohl gefühlt hat. Dreckiger Boden (Haare vom Vorherigen Bewohnern), Zentimeter Staubschicht auf Lüftung im Bad, schimmel bei Amaturfugen und auch in der Duschwanne. Die Zimmer waren mit Sicherheit mal ganz schön, sind aber in die Jahre gekommen und mit dem putzen wird es nicht so genau genommen. Positiv: die Zimmer wurden alle 2 Tage gemacht, Handtücher und Bettwäsche war sehr sauber. Zur Ausstattung, Möbel verschlissen, dass Bett eine Katastrophe, wir hatten nach 5 Tagen beide massive Rückenschmerzen, Zimmer sehr hellhörig, was aber wohl am Altbau liegt. Bei Ankunft ging unser Türcode nicht, bei Anruf ging keiner ran, es kam nur eine SMS, no Phone just SMS... Sehr unpersönlich. Das Problem mit dem Code wurde dann aber innerhalb von 5 Minuten geklärt. Was man wissen sollte, die Gegend bairro alto ist das Ausgeh Viertel, ohne Ohrenstöpsel geht hier nichts. Dafür kann aber die Unterkunft nichts, da hätte man sich vorher schlau machen müssen. Dies ist eine ehrliche Bewertung. Wir können die Unterkunft nicht empfehlen leider.
