B&B Anfiteatro

Fantastic location right in the middle of Lucca but really quiet and very reasonable cost wise. Rooms were massive with comfortable bed, extra bed, table and chairs + en-suite (dark but perfectly functional and clean). There is a communal area with cooking area and dining tables which was useful. The owner was really friendly and helpful, booked taxis for us and kept us updated. Would highly recommend.

The location is excellent. Rooms are spacious and clean. Common kitchen/dinning areas are well maintained. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this place to people visiting Lucca. Francisco was very helpful. He let us store our luggage and organised taxi for us to go to pisa airport. His brother alllowed us to use bathroom, even though restaurant was closed for afternoon .

Basic, shabby and damp is how I feel you could describe our room in B&B Anfiteatro. We booked knowing it was basic, on the trip advisor reviews saying it was clean and quaint, great value for money and the photos looked good. The smell of damp and must was very strong even with the air con on, and the mould in the bathroom could have been partly responsible for the smell or caused by the damp. Either way, there’s a line where shabby chic becomes scruffy and this was definitely it. GOOD POINTS: it did have air con which was totally necessary and there were decent shutters that cut out the light, but in this room there was little natural light anyway. The bed was also a good mattress which was what made us stay our second booked night and not try to find alternative accommodation. It was dusty and the black mould in the shower and on the tiles was totally off-putting. We did ask it we could move rooms after we discovered the shower was broken and also the fridge was not working, but we’re told there were no others available. After a while of being in the room however it was the damp smell that was the worst thing. We stayed out as much as we could, and as we were visiting to see Lucca we did just that. The room needs the damp sorting, and a total paint job plus a deep clean of the bathroom tiles. Then it would be value for money. Breakfast is included but don’t expect anything remotely healthy or any fruit or salad of any kind. Even the pastries were covered in icing. At least the location was fabulous, and the restaurant where you eat felt charming. Glad we were only here 2 nights and would not recommend this to anyone however. Other rooms are better I think, we just got unlucky. We did have use of the communal fridge, and a shared kitchen area so we could make drinks which was welcome. All in all, disappointing however.

I absolutely LOVED staying here. It's right by the old Roman amphitheatre piazza, and all of Lucca is easily walkable from here. (Danger - the gorgeous shops of via Filluno at 50 yards, and one of the best gelateria on the corner of the street!) My room was big, high-ceilinged, super clean and pretty in pastel colours. Large (new) windows open at night to let the cool air in, although there is air conditioning, which would be necessary in the height of summer. The bathroom was completely renovated and modern, with a lovely shower - and the water pressure is great. Ample, nice quality white towels provided, and changed every 2 days. The reception is only manned for a few hours each day, so it feels very much like your own appartment. The owners also have the lovely trattoria Le Tre Merle almost next door, where they serve the copious continental breakfast, should you want it. They were unfailingly lovely, helpful, and they do speak English. Notes: If you have mobility problems the steep stone entrance stairs could cause a problem. If you are a light sleeper you may be disturbed by the joyous laughter and loud conversation at the 2 restaurants nearby which go on late.

Little Gem of a place, Rooms very clean, perfect location to see beautiful Lucca. Such helpful friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Breakfast great choices of everything fruit, eggs, ham pastries etc Highly Recommend. Splendid place & I will definitely be returning

Camera molto confortevole con tutti gli accessori a disposizione e personale molto disponibile. Colazione ottima, posizione altrettanto con ristorante dell’albergo sotto e piazza dell’anfiteatro a 20 metri. Ci tornerò sicuramente

B&B in posizione molto comoda per visitare la città e a 20 minuti dalla stazione dei treni; proprietari gentili e molto disponibili. La camera matrimoniale assegnataci aveva un' illuminazione piuttosto scarsa e la pulizia era un po' sommaria , ma il bagno, fornito di prodotti di cortesia e morbidi asciugamani, era molto pulito e con una buona illuminazione. Sarebbe gradita l'aggiunta di qualche mensola per riporre i propri effetti personali. Colazione molto buona,varia ed abbondante. Buon rapporto qualità-prezzo!
