The Trusty Servant Inn

We had lunch here after a long drive and it was such a a relaxing place. The pub is quirky with historic interest and friendly staff. We felt welcomed and it had a range of lovely ales and choices for vegans. It has a large beer gared and well-planted borders. Plenty of space for groups outside and decent value too.

Came back for an Easter lunch. Staff were again very friendly and welcoming . This time we got to enjoy the garden. Our waitress a young girl was very helpful and although very busy there she was able to recommend the daily special's. Delicious Pork and Mash followed but a tasty Easter Cheesecake. Waitress coped very well even though she seemed to be under a lot of pressure from I can only guess her female manager . Maybe some more support and acknowledgment from management would make these young teams members feel appreciated. We will be back as the food always makes us want to return. Three of us booked lunch here. Sadly they couldn’t find my booking, but we were welcomed and given a nice table in the window. I chose the starter of Nachos as a main course - it was nice but a huge portion. You couldn’t have eaten a main afterwards! My partner had a Bacon and Brie Baguette with chips and salad and my brother enjoyed their Beef Suet Pudding with chips. All the portions were large. Service was friendly and efficient. My brother, who’s from Lancashire, was intrigued to see the pigs wandering around outside. We’ll be back ...

We stopped here for dinner after visiting Arthur Conan Doyle’s grave. Great choice. We had delicious fish and chips and loved the sticky toffee pudding. Just wish they hadn’t been out of the beef pie. Would love to visit here again. They have rooms for let too!

We went to this pub with our dog. The staff were attentive and humorous which made an enjoyable evening. The food was plentiful, good value for money and excellent. I would recommend the avocado starter and the vegetarian lasagne, both were flavoursome. My husband also enjoyed his fish and chips. We could see why this is such a popular pub in the area.

The lovely Trusty Servant Inn is situated in an idyllic area of the New Forrest. It is near many interesting & beautiful places. The bar & restaurant serve local ales & a good variety of tasty dishes which are freshly prepared by dedicated chefs. The Inn has five tastefully decorated rooms which were spotlessly clean. The view from the rooms are either of the village square where the wildlife graze peacefully or the large well maintained garden where you can eat or just relax with a drink. I can’t say enough complimentary things about all the staff. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by warm smiling faces. They all took time to talk to us, share a joke & also told us about places to visit. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. You are a great team & made our five days stay so enjoyable. In the new forest and thought we would try this place after a long walk Clean tidy and well setout, staff were lovely and guy who served us was nice and made us feel at home The wooden menus are brilliant and made us smile, my burger was filling, well cooked and full of everything anyone would want in a burger, chips were brilliant and very professional staff came out with food quick even though they were clearly busy Can't knock it at all, I did say to the guy after the meal and I had paid I would leave a post on trip advisor and here you are thanks for making me and my wife welcome. Next time we are your way I will be back 100%!!

We were using this for accommodation prior to a hospital appointment The location was good The food was good though we thought the quality wasn’t as good as other New Forest hotels we’d previously stayed in Our biggest gripe was returning from the hospital on day 2 to find the room hadn’t been touched When I spoke to the lady at the bar she showed little interest and I had to ask for clean towels The bins in the room and toilet remained smelly and fullI then had to ask for more milk and coffees We’d eaten in the restaurant the previous night and the meal was okay. We gave the 2nd night a Miss after our room experience especially given that the room was very basic and quite small. I don’t think we’ll be going back as it didn’t live up to our expectations We were quite disappointed I know minstead well having worked on one of the farms in my youth and My family come from the New Forest

Off the beaten track slightly this pub is a real gem with superb food and top quality food which will not disappoint especially the Sunday roast. They also have a great selection of local ale and it’s a charming pub with plenty of local history on the walls which I love.
