Hotel Ruby Marie

My goodness this place is funky, but it is lots of fun. It is historic, with creaking floors et al, and our room in the corner had a great view looking out over the street in a fun part of town. Our bed was comfortable and the room was well appointed with period furnishings. There is an attached pub complete with the smell of stale beer the looks like it might get lively on a weekend night. Rumor has it bands play there, but not on our Sunday night stay. Check-in was a bit odd. You have to enter through the back, go up an elevator, and wind your way to the desk -- which might or might not be staffed. If nobody is there you call a number, which works fine. The college kids running the place are sharp and capable, so everything worked out fine. If you are sick of chain hotels and want something local and fun, this is your spot.

My husband and I spent one night here, passing through Madison. It's a very interesting building, not a typical hotel. The room was large, and extremely clean. There are some restaurants/bars in the same parking lot, and the train comes by at night so be prepared. I wore earplugs to bed and slept fine. We were only there for the night, so didn't do any sightseeing, but did walk around at night. There are a lot of bars/restaurants within walking distance, and the Capitol building is also right there. There is a small, continental breakfast offered downstairs which was a perfect start to our day of traveling. I would recommend this hotel.

It's a really nice hotel, optimal price vs quality. It's situated in a great place, near Subway, nearl Trams, and next to Mariahilferstrasse, which will get you going in any direction quickly. The staff is very nice, the hotel is clean and the services are really neat. You get free tea any time of the day, and I think that's a really neat cheap service that makes your wonderful stay even more convenient. I am really happy we've stayed at Ruby Marie.

Stayed 2 nights for our anniversary and was pleasantly surprised. This is an older, smaller hotel with a Victoria era feel throughout. My understanding is each room has its own unique personality. Our clean, spacious room had a soaking tub, electric fireplace in it. The king-size bed was comfortable, nice oversized shower. The hotel is next to a busy road so there was some traffic noise, I read reviews about trains, but none went through while we were there. Hotel is a safe 10-15 walk to the State Capitol /State street. If you don't feel like going far there are 2 lively bars and an above average German restaurant connected to the hotel block. We visited them one of the nights when the weather was poor and had an enjoyable experience. Monday to Friday breakfast is at the hotel, a hot buffet type with a decent amount of options. On the weekends you get a voucher to go one of the bars and can get anything off their breakfast menu. Summarizing I would definitely stay here again.

We stay in this nice hotel once a year and have done so for many years and have always been happy. I booked a room this year with a Jetted Tub and a lake view from all of the windows. When we checked in we were given a surprise and were told that we were being upgraded. We ended up in their largest room which was great but it was not an upgrade in my opinion. There was no jetted tub and only a partial lake view out of one of the windows. The other 3 windows were of a building right across the street. There was a tub but it was not in the bathroom and it had no jets. We also like our shades drawn so the room is dark in the morning. There was a small round window in the ceiling that let in very bright light in the morning and it was facing directly on me when in bed. Uugh! The fan was also blowing constantly right on our faces while sleeping which was not good! Again, wondering how this room was an upgrade from the room we booked??

Twelve quaint but well appointed rooms, very quiet, great small pub with music nightly downstairs, excellent location from the museums and other sites without having to use a car and great value. Staff was very good
