I've been eager to experience a short getaway at the Eco Tree Hotel, thanks to the recommendation. Luckily, I secured a reasonable rate, especially considering it was a Friday stay right before a public holiday. Consequently, I decided to take the plunge.
Here's what impressed me:
1. The overall condition of the hotel is well-maintained.
2. The check-in and check-out process was quick, that's all.
3. The room was quite nice offering: plenty of space, the air-conditioning system worked well, and excellent water pressure for a hot shower as well.
4. The hotel offers open-air private parking conveniently situated behind the property, and there's a friendly and helpful attendant at the guardhouse.
5. The hotel's strategic location provides easy access to numerous good dining options, convenience stores, and even nearby reflexology centers.
Areas that could use improvement:
1. Room cleanliness needs attention; I found unidentified hairs in the bed, which was quite off-putting.
2. The inability to lock the doors to the toilet and bathroom was inconvenient.
3. The limited selection of only four TV channels was disappointing.
4. The breakfast spread itself offered very few choices while the coffee served was quite enjoyable.
5. A more secure designated storage area for luggage would be greatly appreciated.
Above all, I would like to highlight that the front desk team could greatly benefit from being more tactful, friendly, and approachable. The overall arrival experience left much to be desired and was deeply disappointing, despite the swift check-in process.
Upon making our reservation, we requested early check-in with full understanding that it was subject to approval, even though the official check-in time was 1500hrs. Consequently, we decided to register, deposit our luggage, and check out some nearby restaurants. When we got to the lobby, it was unusually quiet and devoid of guests, except for a family of three checking out, and my companion and me. In my turn, I walked up to the front desk and cordially mentioned my intention to check in. To this, the front desk female attendant answered right away that our check-in time was 1500hrs and that we should return at that hour.
I reiterated my awareness of the check-in time but kindly requested to register and leave our luggage in their care. Unfortunately, her response was far from accommodating as she asserted that they were presently only processing check-outs. Her disinterest in further assisting us was evident, leading me to conclude that I should simply return at 1500hrs as she had suggested. When I inquired about the location of the luggage storage room, her reply was curt, merely gesturing toward an area with a glass door, positioned beneath a staircase and opposite the reception area. I couldn't help but feel uncertain about the safety of leaving our belongings there, especially given her uncooperative attitude. Without offering a luggage tag, I took a leap of faith and left our luggage in the designated area.
This whole interaction was unpleasant and aloof. Not a single smile was visible, no interest in engaging with us. I didn't feel anything like hospitality. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, including a stint as head of reception, such treatment of guests is utterly disheartening.
