Apartamentos Avenue Rooms

At a first glance on arrival we thought the apartments were ideal however there were good and bad points, so will start with the good:- The location is great, five minutes to the centre of the old town, shops, cafes, market etc. Check in at night was easy, the very nice owner Carolina sent the door code and left the key. There were plenty towels, toilet paper etc for the week and the bed was very comfortable. There is a small roof terrace which is a bonus as they are difficult to find in the city centre. There was a good coffee machine (complete with coffee pods) which we used every morning. There was no sound of traffic from the bedroom so it was nice and quiet at night. Now the not so good:- There weren't a lot of kitchen/living utensils for anything other than a fairly short stay. There was no iron, I found this particularly annoying, we read that there was a charge to use an iron which is a first for us in any self catering apartment. The shower was temperamental, there was hardly enough hot water for a decent shower and a second person would have to wait till the water heats again. We reported this to Carolina but the situation didn't seem to improve. We also asked for a second key as we sometimes come back separately however our request was refused as we were told it was too expensive to have extra keys cut. It was suggested we leave our key at the communal area (unmanned reception) as the area was safe but we didn't think this was ideal. We woke very early every morning as there was no "black out" blind in the bedroom allowing the room to fill with bright light at an early hour. The windows were filthy although the rest of the apartment was clean. Due to the location I would recommend this apartment for a short stay. We normally stay in the area for a month during January or February but this apartment would not be suitable for a stay of this length due to the lack of facilities.
