I stayed here with my family of four including two children, aged 3 and 5. The accommodation was lovely, although the private plunge pools were very cold. However, the service was poor and the food was dire. Given that you can only eat at the hotel provided options, that was disappointing. The kids’s club was awful - my kids took one look at the slide made out of wood and refused to stay. So we opted for a nanny, paid for by the hour, who regularly disappeared without notice. There was insufficient snorkelling gear at the hotel so the we couldn’t go out from the island often and unfortunately the area around the resort is not ideal for snorkelling - you have to go out quite a bit. Given the price, I expect much more. To top it all off, I ended up getting the most severe bout of gastro, it was horrific. Two other women I met - one a neighbour and one a colleague who happened to be there at the same time, suffered the same fate. When we raised this with the island they said it was due to heat. Given it was June/ July and not at all warm, and we all suffered the same, that was entirely unacceptable. I could have forgiven the rest - and perhaps put it down to being not the right fit - had it not been for the inability for the hotel to accept responsibility for the gastro. They refused point blank to accept that. I didn’t want a refund, just an apology. Had it not been for the fact that I always travel with zofran, I would not have been able to make it to the boat and plane to return home. On return, having had an unsatisfactory response to my reporting of the gastro bug, I encouraged my friends to cancel their bookings, which they promptly did. I expect you to will find better places to spend your hard earned cash than this establishment and I’m not sure it deserves the reputation usually associated with six senses’ branded resorts.
