We stayed in the hotel on 17-20 October 2022. In the early morning on 19 Oct 2022 at 4AM, the electricity went out.
The torch in the bedroom was broken, luckily we have a personal mobile thus we try to call the receptionist however the telephone was also out of order.
We went out the room to find out what was going on.
Finding the emergency exit is our priority however we figured out that the "EMERGENCY EXIT" light to show the stair was also out. Thus we were left completely in the dark and knew nothing what was going on.
Finally, after half an hour, there was a technician passing by. we took a chance to ask and insist his mobile number. He promised that the light will be up in 10 minutes, however of course it did not happen.
We finally got in touch with Mr. Denny the general manager who confirmed the light will be up in half an hour. However, again it did not happen due to the various situation with the batteries etc. In the end, the light was up after 4 hours using the generator.
Mr. Denny who was just on his 2nd day at the Melia Makassar had explained the situation and we have also delivered our feedback concerns regarding the safety of his hotel. Thus hopefully, he will mitigate any possible risk in case this happens again in the future.
