Annema Hotel and Restaurant

The Annema hotel Is magic!! The kindnesse of the host together with the incredibile atmosphere of the bay make this hotel the best solution to visit the sorrounding of Monivasia. Clean, honest price, very good breakfast and dinner. Thanks again to all the staff.

Some hotels have this hard to define ‘magic’, and this is such hotel. It is located at the sea, has a pool but also a beach with a small floating deck to enter the sea in a comfortable way. Sun beds/towels are available, and you almost have the beach for you alone. We arrived a bit early, but that was not a problem to check in. The car was parked just outside the hotel (there is sufficient space to park the car), and returned to the car to collect the luggage when we had our room keys. The staff came out of the blue to help us carry the luggage. The rooms are a bit basic, but clean, the bed/bathroom/towels/… were all very clean and have a fantastic view on the bay (really wow!). Each room has a small balcony too. Breakfast is served inside in the morning, and you better be hungry. It starts with orange juice (unfortunately not fresh one), toast (3 pieces for each), pancakes (the real ones!), and some toasts with cheese/ham. You will also get some yoghurt, and tea/coffee. No worries if you can’t eat it all, you get a small paper back if you like to enjoy the food later on. We also had dinner one evening, and although the entire hotel is only staffed by one family, they were able to provide all food (4 different dishes) at the same time. If you like to try something local, I can only recommend it. The way the staff runs this hotel, in a very efficient manner combined with a commitment and customer first attitude, I can only say: a job well done, and I will for sure return if I plan another vacation in the area. Almost forget: you do need a car, and I strongly recommend to visit the Kastania Cave!

This hotel is a well kept secret - but deserves to be better known. The views of the rock of Monemvasia are amazing, the salt water pool ( and the sea swimming pontoon) well maintained, the rooms immaculate and the whole team are incredibly hospitable. It's an easy drive up to the lovely beaches around Kiparissi, south to Elafonissos Island and Neapolis, north to Sparta and Mistra or west to Githyon and the Mani. There's plenty to explore beyond the town of Monemvasia itself - which is best visited at breakfast where you can sit on roof terrace in the relative cool.
