Sandals Montego Bay (Smb)

For the Butler room it was beyond expectations, small, a/c on its last leg, no ventaliation in bathroom caused heat and humidity. We have been to many other Sandals with a butler experience and this by far was the worst. We will not be staying here again.

Excellent visit. My wife and I have stayed at a couple of other resorts and this one had the best food. My wife has to be gluten free and they were very well prepared to be able to accommodate her with safe food to eat. All of the staff were incredibly nice and always wanted to take care of the guests of the resort guests. My wife and I ended up hanging out by the heated pool most of the time. That was our oasis for the week. The lunchtime options for food were excellent. We enjoyed all of them. My biggest complaint of the week came almost as soon as we walked in to our room. We purchased a "Crystal Lagoon Honeymoon Oceanview Luxury Room." My problem is that the room could best be described as "Oceanside." We did not really have a view of the ocean from our room. The room itself was very nice though. I wish Sandals would just clarify the names of the room to actually project what the view would be.

We just spent 10 nights here for our honeymoon and loved every second of it! I’m vegetarian and was worried about food options but I had no trouble eating at all the restaurants and the food was very tasty. We stayed in the crystal lagoon honeymoon butler suite and couldn’t fault it. Our soaking tub on the balcony was epic and our room (1007) had a perfect view of the piano pool bar and the ocean yet despite being central we were never disturbed by noise. Several staff members made our stay amazing and I’d like to personally give them all a shout out in the hope that the resort give them the recognition they deserve: Kaii - our wonderful butler! Kaii never failed to bring us a morning cocktail and she always brought me a veggie pizza without cheese for lunch. Thanks for the chats and teaching us about your wonderful country and for not being offended when we managed to walk right past you before dinner on our last night, we didn’t mean to I promise! Chris Elliot - you sir are a legend. Chris went out of his way to look after a sick kitten that I’d trapped, get him to the vets and get me an update on him before we left. He was also keeping an eye on a lovely ginger boy with bad eyes for me and was planning to take him to the vets this week. Thank you for everything that you do and for always stopping to talk when I saw you. Akeem, Stephen and Davion - you guys made our whole honeymoon! Every time you saw us at the swim up pool bar you mixed us up some great cocktails (the pink crush being my absolute favourite) and you made everything so fun. Thank you for always greeting us with a smile when we saw you and for making us feel like part of the club. You guys rock! We wouldn’t hesitate to come back to this resort as we both had an amazing time. Everything was clean and well maintained. The atmosphere was very chilled and we could always find a quiet spot or a party spot depending on our mood. It was our first trip to the Caribbean and to a Sandals resort and we will definitely be back.

We stayed a week at MoBay on Apr 13-20, 2024. My wife broke her ankle two weeks before our trip and we were in panic-mode on whether we should cancel our trip or not, because she would not be able to walk and we booked a 3rd floor room in the Almonds building (category PJS). The resort reassured us that we would have full access to the resort and they even reserved a wheelchair for the week for us. While we did miss our walks on the beach because we didn’t want to get sand in her cast, we didn’t miss out on any of our plans for our week. We’re older now and this was our 27th Sandals vacation, so our trips are more for relaxation and enjoying the beautiful views on the resort. We even got to visit the Royal Caribbean and see some old friends there. I will detail the wheelchair information below, but want to give our overall review first. Christopher and his staff greatly exceeded our expectations and took such good care of us that we decided to come back the same time next year and see our new friends again. We really liked the upgrades since our previous visit and to us MoBay has really improved to a new level worthy of repeating. We chose the Almonds building 3rd floor PJS rooms because we wanted to be in the quiet zone, and away from the beach front especially once the entertainment turn on their microphones. We have zero interest with the noisy games, so thankfully this resort has many options and we had one of the best balconies and views of the 14 different Sandals we’ve been to. I’ve read other reviews with people complaining about the resort’s condition or the staff, but I can say as a Sandals expert that the only real problems deserving of complaint would be the guests that are rude and make themselves annoying to others. Sandals goes out of their way to try and please everyone, but there’s not much you can do if a guest arrives with the intention of being unhappy. On the other side of that coin are the guests that come with the intent that only they are worthy of enjoying the beautiful resort and get loud and/or obnoxious. After 27 different Sandals vacations, we seen and witnessed a lot. I think the best and the worst come out of people and never has the Sandals Staff been the offending people. So to those that love to complain, I suggest leaving your attitudes at the airport, because you are missing meeting some of the nicest people in the world who are only trying to make your vacation a pleasant one. To my Sandals friends, some new and some long time friends, you are and will always be in our hearts. All of your efforts do not get missed by many of us and we appreciate you. We had a great time in Jamaica! Great food, drinks and entertainment. Javell who was one of the bartenders was incredible! He was so friendly and welcoming! He always anticipated our needs and made sure we were okay. We will definitely be back!!

Room was very nice and housekeeping did a wonderful job keeping room clean and well stocked. Very disappointed in availability of chairs on the beach. If you don't have butler service you can forget getting a beach chair in the shade. We enjoy sitting on the beach and the 4 days we were there we were able to get a beach chair 2 days and both times were in the sun. This is a bad problem throughout the resort. The food was average at best. The breakfast was very good but the dinners were not good. When we got there we tried to get a reservation at Butch's but we were told that no reservations were available for the 4 nights we were there. I ran into a butler on our 2nd day and asked him if I gave him $20 could he get us a reservation? He came back in an hour and we had a reservation. The food at Butch's was average at best. We also ate at the Italian restaurant and our meal was not good. The fish sandwich we had at lunch every day was better than the fish we had at the restaurants at night. It's a beautiful resort and the people are very nice. Problems were beach chairs and food quality. We had been here 10 years ago and had similar experiences. Will not be back.

The beds were so comfy felt like I was sleeping in clouds. The staff were friendly we just loved everything. Best decision for our destination wedding. We will definitely be back alone and with our kids.

Wanted to give a shout out to the team at Sandal’s MoBay for yet another amazing trip. We arrived for our 31st visit the second week of March to meet up with several couples we have met through the years to celebrate three of their birthdays. The weesk prior to our arrival had been extremely difficult on the island as they had several days of bad weather and extreme flooding. The team at MoBay had done an amazing job getting the entire property cleaned up and back functioning. When we arrived we were met by one of our favorite butlers Marvin, he is simply amazing. He leaves no small detail undone and continues to amaze us trip after trip along with his partner in crime Marvin. These two are in our opinion at the top of their game when it comes to providing a 5 star experience. We refer to them as the not only the butler A team but we count them as family. We had beautiful weather the entire week and amazing service from everyone but I have to call out a few special people that consistently go above and beyond to make it a truly memorable experience. Romario and Rayon at the main bar in the evenings are great. They never forget a face or a drink order and always had a drink ready for me without even having to ask. If you have heard of rainbow shots but never experienced them you have to go visit Dane in the evenings at the Piano Bar. The man is truly amazing. I can’t leave out Everton in the living room at night for entertainment. Thanks for all you do to make sure everything is just right. Loxley at the late night grill is yet another hidden gem. We always look forward to seeing him and catching up over a late night snack. Horace at Butches and Joel are the simple the best. These two men never stop working to ensure each guest is treated special and provide the best dining on property in opinions. Dwayne, Sasha and Stephaun at Butches and Soy. Have to give credit to the entire team in the Photo shop from “Dirty Kurt”, Kevin, Omar, Adrian and Marsha that keeps them all in line. We love you guys for capturing all of our special memories for us and look forward to seeing you each trip and what new ideas you have for new poses. I can’t forget about Duncan and Christopher Grant that help lead the teams at MoBay and always go above and beyond. We can’t wait to go back again.

For the cost, I think it is overated and I'd rate this as average. Each day, it was extremely difficult finding any available beach chairs under umbrellas since all had towels on them indicating that they were reserved and as early as 8am each day. Same applied to the chairs around all of the pools. The resort does NOT remove them as indicated if not occupied after 90 minutes. Food was less than average in most places and their room furniture was aged. The staff was very accommodating and friendly!
